I inherited a 1945 Inglis Hi-Power from my father. I am considering getting a Cerakote
finish just to protect the pistol as the WWII parkerizing is showing a fair bit of holster
wear. Any advice, thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.

^ +1. Any refinishing will ruin the historical and collector value of the gun. Wipe it down, oil it up, keep it dry and appreciate it as is.

Refinish a Inglis BHP? Just hand it in to the local RCMP and they will destroy it for free...

Seriously though, keep it well oiled and you will never have to worry about rust. I recommend Ballistol as it leaves a good oil coat and very safe for old guns.

Surrendering the old girl to be destroyed would be sacrilege. She's been in working order for
going on 72 years and has been in my family for about 35 of those years. It was the first centre
fire pistol I ever had the pleasure of shooting while growing up. It still gets some range time
and I keep it oiled and lubed. Thank you for the advice on the Ballistol.

Looks like the "keep it original" opinion is in the majority. Is the subject of installing new springs
a touchy one, too? Cheers!

I would keep the old springs in a bag and use new springs for the range.

Ceracote a 1967 Corvette to maintain the finish?

Ceracote a first generation Colt SAA?

Ceracote a Colt Python?

When the German Army over ran the Fabrique National factory that made the BHP's, they resumed production and made more German BHP's than the Inglis factory made in Toronto. Don't ceracote your Inglis. If you must, just sell it...

Actually I was the one who mentioned sacrilege in the context of having it destroyed.

Don't worry, she's keeping her original coating but getting a few spring upgrades as I
still enjoy taking her to the range on a semi-regular basis. I even have a half decent
knockoff wooden holster/stock that works, too.

Thanks for the input everyone. Play safe.
