We just got 20 new pulled out of war stock Inglis Hi Power, Most of them have the Inglis sticker on the pistol grip, and one of them has a black barrel.

No Straches on them, Still Black.

Wish I took pics....

Who is we? And I've never seen one with a black barrel. Is the government selling off the rest of the Inglis pistols?

Dan,

Robert is currently in the Canadian Forces so I'm going to assume he means to say that they are taking them out of war stock to be issued. :)

Robert,

You get to use one of thouse for your deployment in December ??

Dimitri

saw a bunch like that years ago when I was allowed in lockup at a local base there were also rows of C7's brand new for the cadets but due to the new laws (at the time ) the cadets weren't allowed near them

A thinking man would grab the cardboard boxes they come in. If it's the origional WW2 boxes, those are a collectors item in themselves.
We had a bunch of those come in for my tour of Bosnia, and I never thought to grab one either. Would look good with my unfired Inglis

The bottom one is my beater. As you can see the decal is almost worn out.

Dan 44: When the Cdn Army does get rid of it's Inglis pistols, you may get to own one in an indirect way. All firearms the CF disposes of get smeltered, so there may very well be a bit of Inglis (or FN, or GPMG) in your North American built automobile.

Well I never saw any cardboard boxes, they came in a Pelcan case.

The black barrel is a first for me, I never saw a Browning with a black barrel. Even my 2 Civi owned one where Stainless.

So has anyone got an idea on how to keep the elevation from creeping up on the Chinese contract one each time I fire it???

Oh yeah, I am jealous of you folk being able to purchase mint ones.;)

Thats nice

but I already have three Canadian ones, one of each type. I am not a fan of 9mm or any cartridge that does not start with a 4.;)
I also hava a number of .380 revolvers, but they too are only part of the collection. (still looking for that H.A.C.)

They were built that way to automatically adjust for the other guy running away from you as you continually missed at the 100-500 meter ranges graduated on the sight. :)

A buddy of mine used to tape the sight down on his Chinese HP. Creep wasn't the word, it literally flew up. He has since upgraded to the no2mk1*.

they have been taking them out of war stocks for a few years now. No mags from what I understand so its aftermarket mags and brand new Inglis HiPowers full of WW2 grease. :)

anytime one breaks and needs serious repair it gets srtipped of good parts and a new one from depot is sent out as a replacement.

May be a Browning replacement barrel, often they are black.

None of the barrels are stainless by the way, just steel in the white.

I was kinda not impressed when I went to the Ottawa War Museum and saw a few nice Inglis HP, but NONE of them had a Inglis sticker or traces of a sticker on it.

Robert's not a civy.

Yes, I know. I was referring to all the other guys on here who seem
to have Inglis Hi-Powers. How did they get them?

Where they sold for surplus years ago?

A large shipment came into the states about 10 years ago. These range from like new to refinished British to crummy. I think some came from China also. I don't know why these aren't worth more. Low numbers, Allied issuied, WWII and one of the best pistols ever produced.
