I recall reading months ago that Canada had decided to melt down all the old Inglis Hi-Power service pistols.
Does anyone know if this has been done or is there even a little chance the decision will be reversed? (likely wishful thinking!!!)

They put a hold on the handgun RFP (request for proposal) because there wasn't any handguns on the market that met their ridiculous requirements (YAY - Go Canadian Government). So they are revising as we speak.

So as of yet the Hi-Power is still in service. However the plan as of yet is still to melt them down

Send a letter to your MP to have them lobby otherwise

I've been hearing rumours of hidden firearms and equipment stockpiles ever since I joined 17 years ago. I've asked a few people I know that work at the Depot in Montreal and they all said that current CF issued firearms are not stored for long periods of time but rather rotated from one units to another.
