Hello all, I've just obtained a Inglis (Canadian made) version of the Browning High Power. It's a 9mm with a wooden holster that doubles as a stock, it has artilery sights and was made for the Chinese Nationalists. It has a Canadian decal and is overall in pretty good shape. It is a "lunchbox" gun in that it has no factory serial number, it is registered with an assigned number from the Feds. I got a great deal on it but I'm not sure how much it is worth, specifically should I keep it as a target pistol with some history or should I be selling it, any of your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks all.

I don't know how much it is worth, but I expect the value will appreciate with time.

Regardless, I'd keep it. I'd shoot it, but not a lot. To shoot a lot, I'd buy a modern Hi-Power to save wear and tear on the collectible.

decisions decisions decisions

So a guy gets a great deal on a 1959 Cadillac Coupe de Ville (fins tall enough to sail a small boat, engine strong enough to tow a bulldozer, seats wide enough for even the biggest girl's backside ... ). Does he drive it to work everyday, use it for groceries on the weekend or put it on blocks under a tarp? An Inglis with tangent sight, decal and shoulder stock is sort of in the same league. It is impractical for extensive blasting at paper, even though it will do it quite well. Its parts are just too unusual to use often. But it shouldn't be set aside like a china doll.

My .02 cents: shoot it, cherish it, sell it if you must, but don't miss the opportunity to enjoy it.

That is one stunning Inglis, with the stock I would say its worth around the $1500 mark, maybe more.

As for what to do with it, give it to me:D.

From what I know, the lend lease decal on the grip is very fragile, and flakes off very easily. Shooting it is not out of the question, but don't make it your standard range gun. A box or two of ammo once in a while will probably be OK, but care must be takes around that decal.

What are your storage facilities like? Gun room or a safe? A separate case with a desiccant is what I would do if I only had a safe, one that seals to keep out moisture. If you or someone you know is handy with wood, I would get a Nice wood display case made up for it and hang it on the wall in your gun room if you have one.

So the moral of the story is, take care of it, but don't forget to enjoy it. And I hate you:p

Thanks all, the thing is I'm not a big pistol guy and if this is worth more to someone else I'd be foolish to keep it I could put the money to better use in other firearms. Any idea where would be a good place for me to put it up for a private sale?

Ask for access to the EE (Equipment Exchange) their you can post a Want To Sell (WTS) add. Ask for permission on the USER CP at the top of the scree, then go to "Group Memberships". Select Equipment exchange then "join group". It will take about a day to get you in, Although, with our little win we just had, a lot of the mods will preoccupied.:canadaFlag:

That , Sir is one Beautiful piece!!
There certainly are better "target pistols" out there.
Personally, I would ONLY fire that one --just to say you did , & then very gingerly.
To see the decal at all is rare. It is a fine collectors item .
