I took my Inglis hipoer to the range today and for the first time in a few years(since I bought it),I was able to send hot lead down range without suffering any FTE.
A special thanks to Marks36hamon for his great trouble shooting.
Story goes like this, I bought an Inglis hi power off Guns Canada.
I bought it under the impression that it was a very early 3 digit seriel number gun only to find out it was a lunchbox gun with a hand stamped 3 digit seriel #.Hey I`m cool with that maybe the seller new as little as I did.
It was an Inglis and that`s all that mattered.Took the gun to the range several times over the next couple of years but it would fail to eject once a mag or sometimes two mags.
No one could help me and all the ejectors I tried would not fit, finally I enlisted the help or Mark (took me over a year to take the gun to him) and in about 10 minutes he diagnosed the problem.
My ejector was too thin and was being deflected by the case and the case would wedge between the extractor and the ejector.
Problem was none of the ejectors I tried would fit my gun, not from a MKI nor a MKII.
SO Mark gave me an ejector from his spare parts kit and I filed it to fit (took a little off the top so it would clear my slide).
Off to the range and over 100 rounds through it with out a single FTE.
I`m so happy I just had to share my tale of woe and joy.
I would post pics but it`s already been posted a few times.

Link to pics please.

Always nice when someone comes along and says "have you tried this..." and it works.

Since you asked for it here is the pic I took the day I reparked it.
It is a beautiful mat black and the different colours is from the oil reflecting the light.

nice but you need to loose those pach's and get yourself some original Inglis grips, just doesnt seem right.

That hammer stock piece?

The ejector must be internal. I know nothing about HiPowers which is a shame.

It must be nice to own a piece of history like that, (I would take a new browning over a SIG 225 any day....I remember my old unit got some from "war storage" the last one I requall-ed on still had the maple leaf crest on the grip, I almost cried as I knew some collectors would give thier eye teeth for it

Ah ha, I think the pics confirm it. (The length of the "dust cover" is one sign)

Your slide is marked "MkI", not "MkI*" correct?

Part of the change in designation was the height of the ejector & the way the extractor was attached & functioned.

It may be worth your while to pull your extractor & compare it with some spare parts.

You are correct in that the extractor is different, Mark also gave me an extractor and it will not fit my gun.It is very very tight.
Thanks for the info now at least I know what I have.Pretty sure it is marked "MKI" but I`m at work so I will check tonight when I get home.

OK just got home and checked my slide and it IS NOT marked MKI or MKI*.
These are the only marlings on it "BROWNING-F.N. 9mm INGLIS CANADA" no other markings.

The "mark" markings probably hadn't been formulated yet when your slide rolled out.

Could you take pics of the 2 extractors? I don't remember seeing one illustrated before.

IIRC the original extractor is held in place by the cross pin? and doesn't "bottom out" at the end of the tunnel? It was a weak system which didn't last long.

No cross pin and I can`t take pics because I already gave Mark back his extractor.
The next time I take it apart I will take some detailed pics for you.

I lied, the extractor is held by the firing pin retainer plate. This puts all of the stress of the extraction cycle upon the retainer plate.

The changes to MkI* included:
1. a more squared barrel cam (from a half circle)
2. taller ejector
3. extractor bottoming out in the extractor tunnel & retained by the retainer plate (rather than held & retained by the plate)

I could not locate a picture of the early extractor in Law's "Inglis Diamond" book, so I assume that they are QUITE RARE.

I would suggest that you retire your slide, unless your barrel cam is round instead of angular in which case I would suggest retiring the whole gun.
