Hey guys, thanks for the comments and the concern over the display, I assure you that it will be a 100% legal set up. And well out of the view of any windows etc. This one is irreplaceable so I don't want anyone to need it more than me, RCMP or otherwise. I have a fully locked up heavy doored gun room in my house that will be fully finished as a man cave/hang out shortly, and it will be on display in there along with Grandpas medals and my military rifle and militaria collections.

Here is the basic idea for the display.

The medals, cap badges and insignia I am happy with the placement of. I'd like to dig through Dad's old photos and see if I can find any better ones of him and get a good one blown up and put a few others in there too. It's tough finding pictures of Grandpa because Mom passed away in 1998 and we were never close with her family other than Grandpa. Also Dad says he was 'allergic' to having his picture taken. Ha ha. The one that is in there now is him running his treasured rock saw at his house in Barriere in the mid 90's. He would have been probably about 85 at the time. That's me ruining the shot, I was about 7 or 8 then. One manual is a 1940 manual for young troops. The other is for drivers, motorcyclists and universal carrier drivers. His rifle fits just right in the bottom of the case.

Awesome! I have my grandfathers Cooey .22 he used to use and it was the very first gun I learned to shoot when I was knee high to a grass hopper, just recently took my nephew out and brought it along and he got to shoot his great grandfathers rifle.

I'm waiting for my wifes grandfathers rifle, hoping it comes to me. Got to hear the whole story about how HIS dad shot out the barrel and they only realized by the entry into the coyote showed the bullet went in sideways, sent it off to Winchester and it was re-barreled at the factory.
