Inherited Hi Standard Sentinel R101

Hello,

I recently inherited a Hi Standard Sentinel R-101 .22 revolver. I know this as close to no monetary value but it has one for me.

The problem is the gun falls in the prohibited category due to its short barrel (2 3/8" I think). I made some research and found that there were other barrel available at the time 3", 4" and 6". I failed to find one available in Nickel finish online.

Was wondering if anybody have this old part stock or if there are any other solutions available. I imagine machining a fitting barrel would be expensive but I'm still currious...

Fitting a barrel to this revolver would not be that expensive. The barrel is either pinned onto the frame or screwed and pinned, I can't remember which right now. It would be a simple project.

IIRC the barrel is a press fit, and pinned.

Take a look on the Gun Parts Corp. Site, and they list a couple different barrels there.

The machining is pretty basic. Getting the barrel to machine, is probably the hardest part.
And getting the old one off, without making a mess.

If you can afford the time, start the paperwork on an import cert and order it in.

A 12(7) is only possible if the gun is pre-1946 and he meets the required close relationships to inherit it as a 12(7).

I don't know the manufacture dates for this gun, but I suspect it is post 1946.

ah, did not know about the pre -1946 cluase, and yes i think you are right about being post '46

Yeah I looked into that, did the research on the gun and this model production started in 54 or 56... too bad
