Initial Review - Sterling Arms International (SAI) R9 Mk1, 9mm PCC

I wonder if Sterling plans to have these go to other dealers. Weird that big dealers like Tenda and G4C aren't being listed as dealers and they typically carry most of the PCC and black rifle lines.

One suspects that if Sterling is selling all the rifles they can make, through their current retail partners, there is no need and no ability to furnish guns to other dealers. 🤷‍♂️

The limitation right now would seem to be the production and import of rifles.

You may be right. Sounds like these are flying off the shelves, and why not? Other than the Homesteader, which for me is not really an option, the R9 is the last bastion of an AR-pattern style and ergonomics of sporting pistol caliber carbine. If it is as reliable as a number of people here indicate, that would bode well for another option for us. I know I am watching the availability of these with great interest and putting some guns on the selling block to come up with the funds for this, once it's available again.

Maybe some larger stores, in seeing how PCCs were previously treated, may decide to sit this one out.

I personally am always happy to see another option available in the retail landscape and having a Canadian-based company manufacture and distribute them is a bonus, in my books.

Assuming the R9 survives the next election, Magpul has made their Zhukov in 1913 form, included cheek risers, and given it the ability to fold in either direction. It is called the UCS.

I like it the way it is ... added flip up battle sights, co witnessed to a Vector Frenzy circle red dot + Primary Arms 3x magnifier ... runs good, yes the trigger is a tad heavy but I dont mind it, changing springs is not difficult. The price point is good - it runs good, mags drop easy etc., everything is a good fit - ergonomics ✔ Its worth the price. Tried several different 115s + 147s and it ate all, accuracy same as Mark's reporting ... nothing for me not to like 👍

I think the lightened barrel really helps with the weight and weight balance. Makes it much easier to move around.
With suppressors not being an option, it sound like the handling improvement is worth the lack of being able to choose a muzzle device. If someone insists on their own muzzle device, they will either have to get their own NR barrel made to to spec, or make do with the Homesteader's hunting-style ergonomics.

That pretty much sums up the situation WRT R9 Barrels. The handling improvements of the factory Barrel are definitely worth the inability to choose one's favorite aesthetic muzzle device. I said as much in my original Review.

On a long barrelled 9mm, a muzzle device is purely aesthetic as it would serve no functional purpose.

If one just had to have bling on the end of the barrel, any half decent machinist would be able to thread the inside of the barrel and create an adapter to mount a muzzle device.
