Initials engraved on Quigley

After ordering the quigley shiloh wants to know what initials I want engraved on the gun. Arent initials sort of goofy? Isnt there something else that would look cool?

Only if your Mom writes them on the toes of your rubber boots. LOL. If your building an hierloom quality gun, why not let your great grandson know you were proud of your buffalo tipper?

Are the initials going onto a stock oval, a piece of brass inletted in the bottom of the stock? If so and you don't want to personalize the gun can you just ask them to not install the oval?

I don't like stock ovals and when I ordered a shotgun I had the maker leave it off.

Dantforth is right, however I think that once you get your rifle and start shooting it(the Shiloh Sharps), you wouldn't dream of selling it and would be proud to have your initials on it.....I would be...Ben...come to think of it, maybe get them to put my initials on it!!!!

Effect on Value

Some day you may want to sell the rifle- what effect would intials have.
IMHO - raise the value? Not likely. No effect? Maybe, depends on buyer. Lower value? Probably to me and some others. Remember - you can always get that done later - but hard to remove. Take your pick.

I have bought old guns with initials on the plate, it does nothing for the value as long as they are engraved properly. On the old guns it giive you something to reserch if you have time
