I was reading that Inland Mfg was reproducing the M! Carbine, read that they were using forged steel receivers. If this is true does any one know if they are available in Canada and are they non restricted

I must have gotten lucky, I guess. My Auto-Ord M1 Carbine in the Para stock runs like a champ and was zeroed right out of the box. It is one of the most fun guns to shoot that I own! And ammo is not too crazy expensive....

I have a Auto-Ord as well. Didn't like the way the mags seated. Too loose, too much wiggle, reminded me of my 3rd gen Universal. Replaced the trigger group with a USGI frame from the dreaded Marstar :) and away it went. Now that was my experience does not mean they are all like that. I got mine off of the EE for a nice price. And I like the wood fit and finish other then the type 1 barrel band.

Many issues with these new "Inland" M1 carbine in the quality department - just do a search on reviews. The Auto Ord models seem to be better quality wise from what I hear, their Thompsons are excellent - I own one now and even owned their full auto versions in the past. I have always owned original M-1 Carbines , Universal, or Iver Johnson and never had an issue with those. I hope that Canada approves the M1 Carbine pistol so that you guys get a 10rd magazine up there.

I don't think they are exporting to Canada (yet?). Certainly A-O is exporting with a N/R barrel, as to make it more marketable. RCMP not likely to approve the new Inland shorty, as it is very very similar to the Enforcer which is Prohibited. I-J (cast receiver) exported to Canada with a 20" barrel in the 1980's or so. Mine works quite well, no mag issues at all.

Nothing wrong with a re-barrelled Plainfield, early GEN Universal or even a USGI M1 carbine.
