I am looking to spend about $600 (not much, I know) on a new pistol. I would like a steel frame and preferably 9mm. Looking at a Jericho 941 range kit right now. Possibly a SAM Sigma 9 stainless or a blued Commander 1911 in 9mm. Also debating just getting another 45 and going with a Thunderbolt since the prices are so good right now. Any suggestions on something else in this price range? Or should I spend the extra $250 or so dollars and go to the CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow? I'd rather not as I also want to get a 22LR conversion for my SR1911 and funds are limited.

Baby Eagle ? I'm not sure if the NEW ones can be had in steel , but everyone I know who does have one loves it . Mind you , you can't go wrong with the CZ for a few extra bucks either . If you are going to spend the extra , I'm also partial to the Beretta 92 .
Take your time and handle all of your potential choices , shoot them if possible , before buying .
You will make the right decision , just take your time .

I don't have one (yet) but I am slowly getting interested in the Beretta PX4 storm. I believe they are around 700 (9mm). Sounds like an interesting gun and the full size version has the rotating bolt that seems to make it softer shooting. Lower bore axis too.

Anyone have this gun? Like or not?

Does the PX4 have the barrel thing going that looks like (or is) a threaded one, or is it flush?

Go for a CZ-75, great gun for the price ($600ish). I have since bought a SP-01 Shadow, which is Fantastic. You will not be dissatisfied with either!

I was surprised how good the CZ Shadow was right from the box. I think it's worth the extra few bucks.
There's nothing to do, but take it to the range. Trigger was 3.5lbs S/A, accurate, reliable and tight with no tweaking.

Well, I did do a trigger job later so the single action is crisper, but in reality was only for my own satisfaction.

Beretta is out, feels weird in my hand. Sig 226 is nice but outside my price range.

If you aren't partial to the beretta then the Girsan will be out as well as they are the same in hand . I hear you on the Sig . I didn't mention it in my first post as I knew your price options . The Jerico is still an option . Also , I was checking out Wanstalls section and saw a Smith and Wesson 9 mm semi that was not much , $399 I think . I know nothing about the gun but an inexpensive S&W semi auto might be worth checking out some reviews on . Cheaper then the M&P and not the ugliest gun I've ever seen .

If you want the best bang for the buck, spend the extra money and get a CZ. Most 9 mm's go bang reliably when you pull the trigger, only a few are as accurate as any CZ. Depends on how high on your list accuracy is as a buying criteria.

Edit: See you went with the CZ SP-01 Shadow, I have one, you will love it. Shoots both Jacketed and cast bullet loads very well. You can spend double what this gun cost and not get anything as accurate.

I just recently bought the Girsan Regards absolutely love it...Thinking about maybe getting a revolver for my next one.
Bought a Girsan Regard before my CZ. Very well made pistol. Only issue I have is that it will not shoot cast bullets at all. Severe leading with rounds that do not cause any leading in my other 9's. Shoots my jacketed loads very well. Pretty decent trigger out of the box as well. Girsan gets my vote for sub $500 9mm's which is pretty short list now with US exchange going the wrong way these days.

Just wanted to say thank you again to everyone for their input. Here is what my handgun collection looks like now:

I sold both the M&P 9 and the Alfa Proj 2251 to fund the CZ and a bunch of 9mm and 45ACP ammo (and some 22LR even though I can't shoot it at this time).
