I've been out of the shotgun game for years & more or less away from CGN in general for almost as long.

So I'm out of date on some of these products lines like Blue Line 870 clone & Churchill 612 guns,
and don't know much about them quality wise other then watching a few you-tube videos a few weeks ago.
I do know the Blue line will take Remington 870 parts & after market products, but will the Churchill 612?

looking for some input from other members that may have used them. Are they worth the $300 or so dollars or should I just look at a Maverick 88?
Also what's difference between the Mossberg 500 and the Maverick 88 model

thanks in advance :)

The 500 has a tang safety and the 88 has a cross bolt thats the biggest difference between the two also the 500 is easier to modify. I would get an 88 idk much about the other ones you mentioned

For what it's worth - pure hearsay from me - the Turkish pumps (great name for a band) don't have a great reputation. Very much a cottage industry that focuses on goofy aesthetics over fit/finish and reliability. The 88 is a soulless appliance of a shotgun. You'll never love it. But it works and parts are available if anything ever breaks, which it likely will never do.

The Blue Line pumps are basically Norinco (Chinese) clones of the 870. I bought one and I was impressed with the fit and finish. Better than some 870 Express shotguns.

All 870 aftermarket parts and spare parts should fit with the exception of the barrel. You will not be able to swap 870 barrels ...

The Blue Lines are tanks .... reliable .... and lots of after market parts available.

I would buy one again .... no hesitation.

My only gripe .... the 18" barrel version does not have any choke and only has a brass bead without a pedestal ... meaning it shoots high ... (like all the short barreled Mossbergs).

I would get it threaded for chokes ..... and install a higher front sight ....

Does the Blue line have enough meat on the barrel muzzle to thread for a choke? that was the only thing I didn't like about that 18" barrel

I owned a 870 Express years ago and didn't like the finish it was a rust magnet & I take care of my guns

The Norinco 870 clones are tanks .... the barrels as well are "heavy". They are definitely not Remington's Light Contour barrel. I would assume there is enough barrel thickness to get one threaded for chokes.

Unfortunately I don't have mine here to measure .... but maybe somebody can chime in who got a Blue Line Pump threaded for chokes ....

And if you want to go the 870 clone route .... then there is one more option out there .... the Ternion T870.

Again, this is a Norinco 870 clone .... and you get ghost ring sights .... but still no chokes (as far as I know).
And not all parts are interchangeable with Remington 870s .... :-(

There are still some of those guns sitting on dealer's shelves ....

The old DA Grizzly weren’t able to be threaded for Rem or Winchoke a lot of the time, the od and wall thickness weren’t always in spec to allow it to be threaded. You could thread them for a thinner Truchoke or thin wall chokes, Peter at Rusty Wood did one for me. I called around to a few gunsmiths and they all said they didn’t want to touch it due to barrel specs. Really depends on when they were made, some early Grizzly guns came threaded for Winchoke’s. A 12.5” barrel with screw in chokes really is a nice thing.

An older DA Grizzly or an old wingmaster would allow more easy options for more barrel options. Anything from a 12.5” to a 28” barrel will fit then. I’m not sure what is compatible with the blue line pump, but previous Chinese 870 clones were durable and most versions were very parts compatible. I haven’t been impressed with the Turkish stuff and parts compatibility seems to be all over the place. A lot of guys like the price of the Turkish guns, but they remind me of cheap BBQ’s I’ve owned .. something burns out or rusts out and I can’t find the part anywhere .. yet I can go anywhere and get say a Webber part. 870 clone all the way. The Mossberg shockwaves can sometimes be had for cheap too .. just change the stock.

I think I’d try the blue line, if I didn’t look for a used DA or older wingmaster.

Love your BBQ analogy .... and yes, availability of spare parts and after market parts ... and availability of tutorials and "fix instructions" is a big one for me!

The 870s aren't perfect ... but there is a tutorial out there to fix nearly any issue you might encounter! And spare parts are available plentiful ....

Clones included!

And the Churchill 612 is not an 870 clone!

I believe you can mount an 870 stock with an adapter plate .... but that's about it.

that's what I heard

I have a 12 1/2 inch "Dominion of Norinco" 870 clone that came factory threaded for chokes, but I believe it's threaded for Invector Plus chokes. Never bothered to check, I didn't buy it for a use that needs chokes.

PS I think that may be the new name for Canada - "Dominion of PRC"

I've bought and sold a few 612s over the last few years at gun shows. Nice wood on them but poor parkerized-ish metal finish easily scratched. Very light duty guns and light in weight. The 14 inch barrels are brutal to shoot with anything but target loads. The internals look flimsy. I have an 88 which I picked up new on the EE for $225. They're excellent guns for the money. I have a mini shell adapter for it so it runs those well too. I've handled a Blue Line just once and it was a much heavier built unit than the Turkish lightweights. Another great option is to look for a cut down Mossberg 400 or 500. I've picked up several for under $350 on the EE .

I spotted a Grizzly 870 at my LGS on consignment, 14 inch and ghost rings - they were asking $350. It seemed pretty decent. It's amazing the weight difference when you replace the furniture - the gun loses a good couple of pounds.
