Hi I'd like to have your input on the Ruger American rimfire.
Please stay on track with the rifle itself pros and cons.
I know the other rifles and calibers I've tried many, this one for my needs might be it.
I held one yesterday and fits good.
I'd like to know if anyone has had bad experiences with it.

I have one. I like it. Don't have anything else to compare it to except my 10/22 takedown, and it definitely is more accurate. The action is smooth, but depending on the magazine, it sometimes gets a little sticky getting sounds into the chamber. Speaking about magazines, it uses 10/22 magazines, so it's awesome if you already have a couple lying around, but since the high capacity mags are prohibited, you're pretty much stuck to 10rds. The interchangeable stock length and comb is a nice feature, but I pretty much just use the higher one for scopes. All in all, I think it's a great rifle.

Oh, does anyone where to get a picatinny rail for it in Canada?

I have the wood stock model; so no interchangeable length and comb for me. I really like this rifle. Feels very solid and well made.
Bolt is working itself in nicely and was decent out of the box.
Love the 10-22 mags as they are easily purchased if extras are needed. They feed reliably for me every time.
Bluing is very nice. Trigger is excellent on mine. Accuracy has been decent with CCI standard velocity ammo. I haven't done a whole lot of testing with various ammunition.
Iron sights are good for what they are. I personally have scoped mine with a Nikon 4x optic.

I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up and give it a go.

Have one going on 3 Year’s now. Seems to like a dirty barrel and 40 gr. CCI shells. It does not group well with cheap bulk. Shoot at least a brick through it before you pass judgement.

I have the full length synthetic RAR in .22LR. A great shooter for the price and after testing a bunch of different ammo it ended up liking the CCI "AR Tactical" 1200 FPS best. 1.5 - 2.0 MOA accuracy was the best I could produce at 100 yards.

I got the full size one, I really like it. # 1 rabbit killer with open sites. Very accurate and feels good to shoot, kind of like a full size gun kinda thing going on.

I have the compact synthetic version. Added the full length stock module. I like it. Nice and handy, short throw bolt, accurate enough, and reasonably priced.

A friend I shoot regularly with has one and I've shot it a lot. Decent gun and no issues. His is synthetic stock, I think it be a good hunting gun. For comparison the cz 452 seems to shoot more consistent groups at 50 yards with a variety of ammo.

I got the full length synthetic and really like it. Got a Nikon ProStaff 2 4-12 and I haven't sat down and checked out the accuracy but it does well on partridge :)

I'd buy one to toss around if the accuracy was like that..

I have a 22RF Compact and a full size 17HMR.
The HRM is super accurate with the right ammo.
The 22 is not bad but it is just a plinker.
One think that I have done with both of them is to work on the triggers and remove the safety trigger thing.
They are a pain in my book.
I really like the way they shoot.
I did have a 22mag in a full size and moved it along because the CZ's were apparently better, but that yet is not the case with my 455.
I would say that you would not be disappointed.

I returned my first purchase as there were tooling marks/shipping marks on the barrel. The second one was better, however the bolt/action is not smooth. It sounds like a zipper. Function wise it is fine. I like the synthetic stock model and the open sights were bang on from the factory. Latter I installed a scope and it was nice to be able to swap in the higher comb. The major annoyance was that the CCI ammunition I had would frequently fail to extract. I would have to use a knife blade to dig out the fired shell. I found that ammunition which had a film coating on the round would get stuck. I switched to different ammunition and it extracts them without a problem. It also shoots most ammunition very well.

I had one in 22LR for a while. I really wanted to like that rifle because it was well built for the price and had a great trigger and really nice bluing. Problem was it never shot better than 1.5-2 MOA groups with any ammo, even ammo that all of my other rifles have been able to shoot sub-MOA with. I now have a Savage MK II FV from Canadian Tire which was $225 on sale at Canadian Tire and is a much more accurate rifle.

i picked one up when they first hit the market up here in Canada.
i really like the blueing on mine, rich and deep.
i picked mine up for $315 i think it was.
i slapped a cheap $100 Cabela's brand scope on it and picked up a oversized bolt knob for it.
the open sites are fantastic on it, love the fiber optics, but im getting older and i need the optics now.

for me the gun has been fantastic.
i didnt pick it up thinking it would ou tshoot my $1000 22's.
i picked it up to be a plinker with and it does that very well.

as a added perk i have about a dozen 10/22's and they use the same mags, so i have like 30 mags for it which is super nice.

I have the 18” threaded barrel model in 22lr, I traded my high comb module for a compact length one. Accuracy has been great to excellent with most every type of ammo I’ve tried. CCI Standard and CCI Quiets are in the “excellent” category.

The only complaint I have with the rifle is periodically a fired brass will fail to eject. Usually is with the CCI Quiets, but I suspect that dirtier burning ammo is to blame.

I’ve been putting off picking up a stainless model with the hopes they’ll produce an iron sighted version.

ive had mine out in -40 shooting.
i had been concerned with the plastic stock.
ran fine with no issues at all.
note - i had cleaned and treated it with G96 like i do all my guns for flawless cold weather running.

Mine wasn't all too accurate but the scope seemed to be the issue. I don't recall any FTEs.
My friend had one at the same time, said it was a laser. He was hoping to add mine to his collection, just didn't have the funds at the time.
It was a good functioning little gun, I only sold mine cause a cz455 had better looks and in wood.
Hard to beat the 10/22 magazine. Takes proper weaver scope mounts. Stock is meh. Short fast bolt lift.
