Hi,

Looking for a new S&W .22LR revolver, I am told Smith & Wesson no longer makes the 617 model with 6 rounds, or at least the 6 round 6" barrel stainless steel is not available for purchase in Canada as a new item. I would appreciate any lead to help me find a used one, excellent shape. Thank you.

Put a WTB on the EE. I just snagged a nice 17 on the EE, and I recollect seeing a few 617s posted as well.

Apply to use the Equipment Exchange. Then watch the Rimfire and the Pistols/Revolvers Exchange. When you see one for sale that you like, act immediately as these revolvers are quite popular.

Used 617s or 17s come up for sale fairly often.

617 10-shot cylinder

Hi,

Hi
I've been shooting the (club-owned) 617 .22cal 6" barrel and 10-rounds cylinder and I'm absolutely pleased with it.
I just shoot slow fire, usually, and I (try to) put only ten bullets on each target. I'll most often than not, post three targets per 10 minute relay and having to load only three times is a boon.

Moreover, the longer barrel helps with accuracy. I've used it ISSF and managed to put four of five on paper, using double-action in the 10"seconds relay
7" seconds target swivels away 3" seconds to shoot.

Since the club shows no intention of getting rid of these, I'm not looking into buying one as I can continue to use the club-owned ones. (I'm no marksman so, using any of three different ones does not really affect me that much.)

But I definitely would consider buying a 6" barrel one if they were not available anymore at the club.
