I had no idea that anschutz didn't make their own biathlon action. Any know who makes it for them - Fortner?

Peter Fortner makes the Action for Anschütz. Back in the early 80’s Peter modified a bolt action Anschütz 54 action (a model 1427) for a Biathlete on the German National Team. The Biathlete took it to the Anschütz factory and showed it to Dieter Anschütz. Dieter immediately relized how this could revolutionize the sport. The Anschütz family partnered with Fortner and together they have been constantly improving the design ever since. A relationship which continues to this day. Peter has a small shop in Southern Germany, employs a staff of 6 very skilled gunsmiths. A very cool place to visit.

To this day, the 1827 is based on the Anschütz 54 receiver.

Peter also makes all of the 1727 hunting and F27 Target rifle actions for Anschütz.
