Inside info on CWD Ontario

My contact at the Ministry says. that with just over 3/4 of the data in, it appears Ontario will be declared CWD free for the 2006 deer season!

Of 450 white-tailed dear tested for chronic wasting disease in northwestern Ontario last fall, all came back negative.

Thats excellent news. What actually prevents the CWD? I have heard about it but never looked into it much.

There is no known cure for Chronic Wasting Desease as yet. (Mad cow in deer)
If it invades Ontario, expect mass deer culls in the infected area. That is the current plan. Beat it the same way Alberta keeps rats out.
