Why do so many guys dump on stainless media over minor case mouth damage?
I mean seriously... Nobody ever thought maybe you should chamfer the case mouth after you tumble?
I don't even see the point of a chamfering after a SS tumble anymore.
In short, I used to be really annoyed by the peening and wanted to avoid using my 3 way trimmer to clean things up and give the brass that "freshly machined" look.
Having given up trying achieve to that "clean look" in my reloads, I have found that there has been no real change in my standings in F Class matches. My groups and scores are unchanged at 1,000 yards.
Basically, my brass might be minorly peened, but it does not shave copper off the bullet when seating.
Edges are bit peened but not sharp, and the ID and OD angles made previously by my 3 way cutter are still there for the most part.
I should mention that all my brass is has been worked/broken-in to the point that none of the cases are different lengths than the others after annealing and re-sizing process.
Even if I had to 3-way trim 20% because say they were 0.002-0.004 longer than the others, then I would not lose sleep before a match over the idea that 80% were peened at the mouth and 20% were cleaned up nice.
I probably wouldn't get bend out of shape, I had forgot to trim the ones that were 0.004 longer really.
