Insite Arms Heathen Brake on 223?

I did for a few years, the Heathen (both the gen 1 and 2) are very effective brakes. I'd still be running one on my .223 but I currently run it with no brake to make the recoil very similar to a braked 6mm. I use Heathens on all my other rifles (6 creeds, 6.5 creeds, .308, 7SAUM, 300NM). They are incredibly effective yet have very little concussion at the shooter.

I ran a Heathen on my 223 for a bit. It’s a trainer rifle and weighs about 19 pounds so I felt it was better to practice recoil management without the brake. The Heathen basically eliminated all recoil from my 223

Now, my braked 6mm dasher recoils about the same or less than my 223 without a heathen.

No reason you couldn’t use a Heathen on a 223. The IBI tactical brake is a better brake IMO, it’s cheaper and IBI has never used questionable marketing strategies.

Using people to spam shooting forums promoting their products. One particular person is on a temporary ban currently.

Lotsa guys vouch for the Heathen because it's a great brake and Insite are good guys. Insite don't "use people to spam shooting forums", I can tell you that. You like the IBI brake better, that's cool. Different strokes for different folks. The fact that many people like the Heathen (in all its iterations) and recommend it isn't questionable marketing strategies any more than you recommending the IBI brake is. The OP specifically asked about the Heathen but you felt the need to interject some nonsense about questionable marketing... I'd say that's questionable, haha.

I ran a Heathen brake on my coyote 308 & loved it … getting a 223 build done up & was wondering if Insite Arms did make a heathen for that calibre is all. No need for bs guys come on! As for the ones who do or did run a heathen would you post a pic or send me a pm please. Thank you,

So because you promoted the IBI brake, we are to assume your promoting their product from first hand use or spam. Great products get great reviews because they work. The only questionable thing here as rugbydave mentioned is your promotion of IBI

Except I’ve never been sponsored by IBI whereas this particular individual was sponsored by Insite.
Promoting is one thing, crapping all over every other company is another and that’s exactly what was happening

Please stick to the post. If you have other brakes in mind great but let’s not turn this into a shizznat show please. PM if you have brake ideas instead of shizznat on here. Thank you fellow CGNers,

No body asked about a IBI brake ? Or about marketing strategies did they ? RJ

It is a very similar design that performs as well or better for a lower price. Anyone interested in the Heathen should look at the IBI.
Seems pretty relevant to me

Also it has flat sides so you can actually use a wrench to install it. No need to buy a tool.

Weird
You seem to have something personal going on here.
Did the Insite guys hurt your feelings?
You have made a fair number of posts recently similar to this.
I own a few heathens as well as 419 and APA. Each have their strengths.
Does Insite have a list of sponsored shooters available?
Your previous posts state over priced compared to IBI...really?
My man you got a dog in this race and you arent too subtle.

Eh? I wasn’t going to comment because maybe some of you use a tool for the Heathen. I don’t know about that. Never heard of a “tool” for the Heathen.

But.. this ain’t no wheel on a truck. I’ve owned 4 Heathens, including the new G2 tuneable brake. I have never tightened any of mine more then firmly hand tight. Never had one “spin” loose. And I’ve used the 4 and 5 port units on calibers up to .338LM. Never…never an issue of it loosening.

They are so easy to index as well, because of the flat on the underside.

I have a Heathen on my 6.5CM, works excellent, however mine does occasionally come loose. It could be the machining on the factory barrel. I keep a small rubber strap wrench in my range bag.

If it is coming loose we have seen it more likely on factory threads ...the strap wrench is key.. and wont damage threads
This can even be more common with the stainless g2 brakes. Stainless brakes on stainless barrels somtimes need a bit extra torque of a strap wrench to stay tight.

The reason we dont make flats for a wrench is that it increases the likelihood of stretching the threads. We have seen several instances where a wrench has deformed the threads and leads to a consistently loose brake.

We also have a no questions asked money back guarantee.....even a year later....you arent happy or dont like our brake....send it back for a full refund

I wont be returning mine, it’s great.
For some reason when I use your tuner with it, it comes loose way less. Came loose once this fall. My next brake will for sure be stainless.

Thank you for chiming in. Is your brake for 223 smaller than others or just the hole diameter? PM if you wish to discuss privately. Thank you again,
