I have dealt with Harley/Insite for more then 7 years and have had numerous rifle builds, had untold number of barrels spun up, and have had Harley inlet and bed more then a couple stocks, do all different kinds of custom work and I haven’t had one single bad experience in all those innumerable interactions. I’m not saying it can’t happen and I do feel honestly bad for other guys in the custom gun world that have bad experiences with any rifle builder, as this is certainly a crazy expensive hobby, and so frustrating when stuff isn’t up to everyone’s understandably high standards.
I have been competing in F-Class the last 4-5 years and you get to hear good and bad things about every rifle builder with all the guys all over western Canada and the States I shoot big matches with. Most of the guys I shoot with go thru minimum 3-5 barrels a year, and new rifle builds every couple of years, and you get to know what custom stuff shoots, and what is hit and miss.
I have learned to take all these up and down stories for what they are worth and not discount a company or builder on any one single bad experience. Henry in Calgary also makes great barrels, I have seen many of his shoot excellent, and win big matches, same for KS Arms, and IBI barrels that some of the top guys in Canada swear by, so my feeling is guys should deal where they’ve been treated good and get great customer service and get super accurate rifles built for the money. For me that is definitely Insite.
My last Insite F-Open custom rifle Harley built, allowed me to finish 10th overall at the 2025 SWN this year, at Ben Avery, against many of the top guys, and top gun builders in the world. And that is no small feat. If your rifle/barrel isn’t one of the best in the world, for repeatable accuracy and precision, you haven’t got a hope to see the leaderboard there.
I sure hope that all my other fellow Canadian shooters and gun lovers get their issues looked after and resolved to their satisfaction.
