I installed a 5/16" diameter .22 liner in a salvage grade No. 4 barrel this afternoon. I had previously fitted a chamber insert, and run the liner drill through.
The procedure I use is to degrease the drilled out bore and the outside of the liner, then pack some JB Weld into the bore starting at the breech end, and smear the liner with it. I plug the muzzle end of the liner, then push it through the barrel. When I had checked the dry fit, the liner passed through, but it was a bit tight. With the bonding agent it was quite stiff to push into place. So, I grabbed the barrel in the lathe chuck and used the tailstock ram to push the liner into the bore. Run the ram forward, wind it back, advance the tailstock, etc., until the liner was seated. Good, smooth, controlled installation. Easy to collect the JB that was being wiped off the liner, and reapply it as the seating went on. The tailstock worked very well as a linear press. Once the JB is cured, I'll trim off the protruding liner at each end, crown the muzzle and finish machining the breech. Chambering and making the extractor cut will complete the job. For a simulated CNo.7, turn off the bayonet lugs. Leave them on for a faux British No.9.
I've lined a number of .303 barrels, No.4 and No.1. One thing that I have noticed is that the liner drill - for a 5/16" liner - does not clean out all the rifling. Traces of the rifling remain.

I did quite a few rim fire liners... I ended up preferring to use blue Loctite for bonding the liner to the barrel.

Over the years I've used different bonding agents. Accraglas Gel, epoxies, the JB. I've not tried any Loctite products.

I had many different Loctite's to try but the blue worked just fine and a bit more easily removed if ever required...

Yes, -- I think.
Bottle says "62040" "High Temp sleeve retainer'.
I guess it'd take more heat to remove -- but maybe that's a good thing. ?
Never had to remove one, though I did talk to one fellow that said one seized up on him about 3/4 of the way in using red loctite.
