how do i go about switching my current pistol grip folding LE stock on my remington 870 with a standard synthetic stock?

the folding stock is USELESS in my opinion, and the folding buttplate has collapsed in on itself after every shot. I even took the butt end of it straight on my front teeth (knockin it loose and fracturing it) while shooting a double magum shell and the whole stock collapsed firing the gun straight back into my mouth...anywho, enough ranting...just wondering how i go about switching the stocks?

Your present stock is bolted to the receiver with one bolt. Simply unlbolt it. I can not see how yours is attached, but a large flat screw driver usually works well. The synthethic replacement stock usually comes with the bolt that is required to attach to the receiver. The recoil pad on your replacement stock may need to be removed and the stock attachment bolt can be turned with a longer flat screw driver. Remember to replace the butt pad on your replacement stock.
 
Is your top folding stock a REMINGTON manufactured metal one or is an after market top folder? Or is it a side folder?
 
If the buttplate of you REM top folder is collapsing, the sides of the buttplate have spread out. The tangs on the sides of the buttplate are not stopping it as it was designed.

If you squeeze the sides of your buttplate togeather, it will not collapse as it has.

Before you shoot any firearm, always inspect it and make sure you understand how it functions and that it is sound to shoot. If you don't, you run risk for injury, property damage and God forbid, death.

I shoot with the same stock attached on my gun and I've never had any issues with it except busting the pistol grip a few times because they are old and brittle and cannot stand magnum punishments any more.

However, these top folders are not for everyone. For some people, they just don't fit right. I can't fault you for your injuries if you are of smaller stature.

Hold your stock tight to your shoulder and shoot the gun like you mean it.

Aside from that I will sell you a brand new synthetic REM stock to replace your top folder if you so desire.
