Installing an 18 or 14 inch barrel on a 28 inch wingmaster??

I have read the thread regarding re-registering these shotguns as having a barrel under 470mm (18.5") after installing the shorter barrel. Since the removal of the evil gun registry, is this now a moot point? I assume it is now perfectly fine to install an 18" or 14" barrel on a shotgun even if it previously had a longer barrel without going through all the paperwork? (as long as the shorter barrel is a manufactured barrel and not cut down of course)

As long as the overall length is greater than 26” on a pump or manual action you’re good to go, no paperwork or registration needed to swap a shorter barrel nowadays.
