I have a 93r with an accutrigger. I'm looking at buying an older, but upgrade model that doesn't have an accutrigger. Anyone know if I could take the trigger or trigger group from my current gun and swap it with the new gun? Will it fit or are there other differences as well?

I've heard that this is not possible, due to differences in the bolt, etc. I haven't tried it myself, as my MkII doesn't have an AccuTrigger...

In the diagrams of the two trigger groups, they look awfully similar. If you get the two trigger groups out, post a picture for the rest of us!

Of course, it remains to be seen whether Savage would sell a trigger group separately...

Sorry to tell you that it won't work... happy to tell you that the Rifle Basix trigger for the Non-Accu trigger Savage rifles is very nice... I put one in my Pre-Accu MKII BVSS HM2... it is a huge improvement... the old Pre-Accu triggers REALLY sucked!

Thanks for the replys guys. I have a 93R right now WITH accutrigger and I just bought another, stainless version with heavy barrel that is WITHOUT an accutrigger. I was hoping I could just swap the whole trigger group from one to the other. Sounds like maybe I cant.

Ill probably take both apart and just see what the difference is. Ill post up my results when the 2nd gun gets here.

If Its not possible, ill probably get an upgraded trigger for the stainless gun and keep it. I have to think a really nice, well designed trigger would be superior to an accutrigger...

Well I got the pre-accutrigger savage here today and took both of them apart. There are HUGE differences in both guns that make converting one to another impossible. Asside from the entire trigger group, the bolt is actually longer on the older model, the receiver is also longer at the back and shorter at the front. I was surprised by the trigger pull on the older version, its not nearly as bad as I thought it would be, but obviously not as nice as the accutrigger.

Anyway, just thought someone else might be interested in this idea like i was. Even the stocks are different. So there are literally no major parts that are interchangeable.

Not like the accutrigger, but there are upgrade triggers or trigger parts available for the savage 93... theyre about $80... but from what ive read, they work great.
