Installing Garand trigger assym

I scored a Garand a few months back that didnt come a trigger group. I was able to get a complete trigger assembly from Epps this week. Can someone explain how to install it. I tried last night but couldnt get the trigger guard to seat properly. It wouldnt go down all the way. It seemed to stop a half an inch from contact with the stock. I dont want to force it and do any damage. Is this normal. Trigger assembly appears to be complete and in working order. Its has a machined trigger guard. I was under the impression that all Garand parts were interchangeable. This is my first Garand and would love to shoot it.

Make sure the hammer is cocked, and the safety is on, trigger guard is fully open. Insert, and close trigger guard, there should be some resitance to get it to snap in.
