On the first day on the job at the CIL ammo R & D labs, my boss took me to the lab library and told me there was nothing new to discover. He said it was all done by about 1920. All we had to do is read.

He was about right.

Huh, I wonder what they'd tell me if I tried this at the weekly bullseye shoots at my club (which is just for fun now basically). Doesn't look like you'd be hitting any of the higher scoring rings, but with twice as many holes in the paper on a 10-shot string I think there's a good chance you'd more than make up for it.

Ganderite, you think you could do an experiment and post results using an official NRA 20-yard target so we could see the scoring of single vs duplex loads? I can send you a pdf of some I drew up myself if needed.

I did it.

Used the hot 357 load for the double tap. Fired 5 of those - 10 holes and then 10 148 SWC loads. The 10 SWC shot into about 4" (not good for me). But the double tap grouped about 15" Much bigger than I expected.
