When shipping anything of value, insurance is always the prudent choice. Occasionally the shipper may overlook this option. It is therefore on you, the customer to make a written request via email to demand that the shipment be insured. This will protect you from loss and provide legal recourse should your demand not be met; resulting in material and financial loss.

Personally I would not choose UPS to ship anything.

When a business accepts your credit card, they agree to the terms of the processor supersedes their own. Which includes ensuring that item you purchased is delivered. If a product you purchased is marked as lost in the mail, simply contact your credit card provider for a charge back.

Since this was posted in the North Sylva forum my guess is that is was a warranty item that got lost while it was being shipped back in which case there wouldn’t be any credit card payment for anything.

Good catch, very possible that’s the case. Most of the time warranty does a great job, but some including myself have been badly burned before. If you purchase a firearm or part with a credit card and there is a problem, the business you purchase from is obligated to take it back for refund or exchange. In this case it’s a bit late, but maybe good info for others reading.

UPS is absolutely the best shipper in my rural area. The driver will even call me about shipments. Canada Post is Canada Post, reliable but not fast. And they don’t ship ammo

Canada Post insurance - is NOT valid for glass items or items that contain glass - so about pointless for a scope. And Canada Post views the party that sent the item as their customer - so only that "customer" can buy insurance coverage - Canada Post will pay the parcel sender if the parcel sender goes through their hoops to make a claim - as the parcel receiver - you are SOOL

My warranty repaired device was stolen at the UPS sorting plant; as borne out by the evidence presented to me. Police report was filed.

I think it's area dependent. The UPS drivers here have always been great. Back when Campar shipped ammo those guys were great, too. They would call and tell me when they would be in my area (out of town)

Fed ex, Purolater etc...not so good.

But I also recall Campar and UPS horror stories back in the day from other regions.

If I ever ran into our UPS guy having lunch I would absolutely pick up the tab for him.

I pulled ours out of the ditch with my BIG tractor. He was good and stuck. I was worried I’d rip his truck apart.
