For a longer shot, the boat tail design is unbeatable.
Two of the main contenders of the thick jacketed ballistic tips are Hornady's Interbond and Swift's Scirocco.
Since we have many hunters that have used them, I'd like to get your personal prefference and - if possible the instance you've used them - and some results (pictures, eh?).

Which one you like the most?

What about Accubonds? I like Accubonds!

I have used them with great success in a 7mm RM and a .300 WM. I was able to get .35" 3 shot groups at 100 yards with the .300WM! They even work well on small deer at fairly close range.
 
do they have a thick jacket? I never got to see the section of any - nor did I use them, but if the jacket is at least as thick as the Interbond, I'll change the poll. ;)
 
The Interbonds are basically Hornady's response to the Accubonds and all three are similar in design and function.
 
IIRC the interbonds came out before the accubonds.
Have not used either but have used the scirocco and it did the job. But I don't think these bullets will do much for me as I don't use anything with enough velocity to destroy a conventional bullet of appropriate wieght for the game.
Edit: FWIW I know of a couple of guys who now shoot the interbonds as they have said they are a stronger bullet.

I have some Interbonds coming in tomorrow from Wholesale sports and will be using them in my 7x57. Will keep you posted.
Nugget is trying the Accubonds in his 300 SAUM too.
I can get the Interbonds for half the price of the Accubonds, so we can play more with the loads to fine tune them.
Generally speaking, any bullet is capable of shooting better than I am, one day I hope to change that!

As far as scirocco goes, too rich for this kid!
 
Depends which cartridge it's going into. For 'Magnum' velocities, you can't beat a Partition. Others, particularly poly-tipped types, tend to come apart when impacting above 3000fps.

Otherwise, I'd say it all boils down to which shoots best out of your rifle. Bullet performance don't count for squat if you can't hit your target...
 
I voted for Interbond's , but the truth is I don't like them, i've loaded them for 4 guns, only one shot worth sh!!t. Accubonds would have won this one hands down.
 
Yeah I have found the acubonds the most accurate and best performers on game of all the bonded spitzer boat tails... the sciroccos were the first but no longer the best bonded bullet... interbonds are at the bottom of the list for performance and accuracy.
 
I voted for Interbond, but I prefer the Accubond

the Scirroco seems to do nothing an Accubond cant, at a lower co$t

When you guy's say they are harder (Interbonds), how would you say they stack up against a Speer Grand Slam?
If they are like a failsafe or a Barnes X I may be opting for something different.
I know the Nosler Ballistic Tip is like a grenade, my Antelope would agree too!
Be nice to find a bullet that holds together like a G.S. but has a high ballistic coeficient(sp).

Interbond/Accubonds dont behave like Xs, more like Partitions and Grand Slams, but with high BC

try some, you'll be happy with their performance Im sure

I like the Interbonds accurate enough for me and shot Whitetail with them last year. Was a long shot and had to shoot the deer up the a$$ had absulutely no meat wasted where it gone in and it exited high in the rib cage. Left about a 6" hole where it exited (broke some ribs so that's probably the reason for the large hole.
I have about 100 left and that's all I'll ever use for deer in the 30/06 I am playing with some partitions too for the 7x57 but will have to wait till fall to see how they do.
 
Speer Grand Slams are not in the same league as these bonded offerings. Here are my personal observations. The Scirocco is a bit pricey, and the recovered samples I have indicate they are "soft", since expansion has always been more extreme than I expected, particularly since I never used any of them in Magnums. The newer Scirocco II may have addressed this problem, but I cannot say. The Hornady Interbond is a decent bonded bullet, but like others have noted, It does not shoot well in quite a few rifles. One of my 270's refused to shoot the 130 IB under 2½, and after going through almost a whole box without success, I gave it up. My 7x57 shoots the 139 and the 154 acceptably, but shoots other bullets better. The Nosler Accubond has been the best of the bonded bullets for me, so far. It shoots great in almost everything I own, and the game I have shot indicates good weight retention and penetration. I have recovered only one from 4 head of game shot, a 7mm 140 gr that weighed 112.5 grains on recovery. My 8x57 drove a 200 AB right through a Bull moose, exit the size of a Toonie. So I would have to vote it as the best Bonded bullet for my purposes. Regards, Eagleye.
 
I will be trying the 154gr 7mm, as long I can get them around the MOA I will be more than happy.
Will be using them in a 7x57 and the 7 Mag I got from M1Garandfather so it will be interesting to test the same bullets in two different chamberings.

This is a 165gr Interbond that I recovered from a Whitetail last year . Shot with Hornady factory ammo in 300 Win Mag at around 225m (figure 2650fps at that distance). The bullet went in by the shoulder, through about 6" of spine, then 5 or 6 ribs and what you see settled under the hide (I shot a bit high :redface: ). I hope that makes sense...suffice it to say, it busted up a lot of bone. I'd ballpark weight retention at around 120gr.

I get great accuracy with them and the trajectory is excellent as well. This is the first time I used a bonded bullet and I'm impressed.

For a boat tail to hold the core in like that is impressive, especially compared to the sierra's and speer's that I have played with. Even the standard hot core Speer or Hornady have a hard time holding on when they get mushed down that far.

mistahmojoryan, I will hazard a guess with a hit like that you didn't have to track your Deer far!
