Interest check: HK 5.56x45 5/30 factory mags

I dont see how you are being rude. Everyone is entitled to his opinion.

No probs.

The HK mag i got are the latest gen made for the hk416 that have the tolerance between the mag body and follower rehashed. Hence the problem with the slightest amount of dust in them.
To put it at its simplest form, after having tested them, they simply don't work for me.

Hence the objective conclusion report:

1-TOO expensive

2-cannot rebuild them...

3-Heavy as lead

4-Prone to breakages as anything else on the market.

5-Just as prone to deformation as anything else on the market

6- They still rust, a problem which no other type of Alu, Magnesium or plastic mags have...

No harm in saying that.

KPA

All mags seem to have their pro’s and con’s.

Problem I experienced with most 30 rnd polymer mags is the lips deform by flexing outward a bit when kept fully loaded (30rnds) for extended periods of time because of the upward spring pressure unlike conventional aluminum or steel mags which seem less likely to flex unless worn out. This can cause feeding problems in the poly mags in the long run.

Also in extreme cold there can be quite a bit more of a dimensional change to the polymer mags from contraction compared to alloy mags. Depending on a whole host of other variations this can present some feeding and seating problems in some AR’s.

I’ll stick to mil spec aluminum with ant-tilt for those reasons alone, so long as the aluminum mags are maintained they have few feeding issues and unlike polymer mags they are battle proven in all environments.

Could you be more specific as to which polymer mags are we talking about here? An exact model or models would be greatly appreciated.

I am still waiting for problems with my 30 round aluminum G.I. mags.
I have a few poly mags but almost never use them.
I plan on getting a couple e-mags for my FNC just to be part of the crowd.
If I were an HK collector I would snap a couple of the heavy mags up but they really don't seem to offer anything any other mag can't do.

The first commercial run of PMAGS, Thermolds, down to Eagle Industries first crack at the poly mags. However I have not tried the latest run of PMAGS, supposed to be better, but I don’t intend to test anymore, I’ll leave that experiment for others.

Well, fully loaded mags causing lip creep in pmags ain't a problem in Canada. Looks like the libs saved us!

But that cap is for preventing mag creep for long term storage on the pmags. Also keeps the dust off.

+1 on the E-Mags, they would be great.
As for H&K Mags, I own all three version and have had no problems with any of them so far! There a high quality magazine, and i would own a few just for collector purposes alone, and I do. As for weight, I can't say that there that bad, but they are heavier than the rest.

Also I have fired a fair size of ammo counts with these mags and have not witnessed any problems, not one yet! The price is expensive, but that is more to do with RNichols being the problem, and the Euro dollar also contributing. I have a connection in the states to bring them up, but price varies depending on the shipping & duties.

I tried ordering a few from a Canadian dealer, and they were charging $135 not including taxes and shipping per magazine, and they never did bring them in. They just sent me 2 5 rounders, wasted my time, like 5 months on there list.

Ya dem puking libs :ar15:.. but don’t ya think the little cap is kind of a stupid stop gap measure for a design flaw that has been known in poly mags for the last 30 years?

30 years ago we don't even have the internet for the public!!!

And no one was using thermoplastic in body armour either.

Ya, but that didn’t stop me from buying those first poly garbage mags 30 years ago. Back then they were bragged up to be the cats meow.

Back then we had magazines such as SOF and SWAT etc instead of the internet.

I like the internet better though.

I would like to see 20 and 30 Emags here, too. I find pulling the Pmags from mag shingles to be far more difficult than steel/al mags because of the ribs and texture. I love my Pmags and know those features are for strength, but for fast reloads, I want some slick emags.

As an aside, has anyone brought in the 20rn pmags?
