Interest in .50cal 300grain bullets?

I'm working with a company in the States to import .50cal 300grain bullets. They might only be able to purchase 35,000 bullets at a time so I'm wondering if there would be enough interest to make it worth their time. I would have just made the purchase and sold the excess here but apparently that's not allowed. Maybe the way to go is teach everyone how to fill out the forms and purchase the bullets themselves. The bullets should go for about .20-.23cents each shipped to your door. An incredible price for bullets that size. I would like to purchase at least 2000 so if we can get enough interest then we might only need a couple of dozen people to commit to a purchase. As for the import paperwork it's dead easy. I've already done a successful trial run with the free 1000 bullet deal you get when you purchase a press from Hornady. The Canadian import paperwork took 8 days to get, then four days to mail to the States, then less than two weeks for the export paperwork from the State dept, and one week for the bullets to be shipped.

So if you're interested then add your name to the list with the number of bullets you'd like. This is just a preliminary list of people that are interested. If things start looking good then we'll start a list of firm orders.

300 GR. ??? Not sure they,ll be too usefull. I've never heard of anyone shooting something that small, do you have to crazy glue a couple of them together to make em work ??
The smaller gr. bullets for 50's are usually 650 gr. It would be interesting to see the ballistics and the drop sheets for a bullet that small, unless someone's selling you bullets for a Smith & Wesson 500, then it would make sense.

They are bullets for a Desert Eagle .50AE. They will also fit the S&W 500. The company can get 300gr or 350gr bullets. What the hell are you shooting with 650gr bullets? BMG?
 
I would be interested in some of the 350 grain bullets if they have a cannelure on them. I like to put a heavy crimp on my 500 S&W loads and am not sure if the bullets would stay put if I could not crimp them.

When I got my 500 smith I was using those 300gr-350gr bullets for my Desert Eagle in the beginning since I have a Cor Bon cannelure cutter and was able to crimp them. I was getting just shy of 2100FPS with one load and was pretty impressed and past this a long to a friend who also has one. Not wanting the same load as me he contacted Speer for some alternative load data and they said great but keep them under 1400FPS for the bullets are not strong enough to withstand the pressures that are generated over that velocity. The problem with them is copper can build up in the forcing cone and so does pressure which can rupture the barrel etc. The same problem is present with 45 colt designed bullets in the .454 Casull. My 2 cents.
 
If these are unmodified Speer 4493's, I'll take a bunch. Otherwise no.

Also, I assume you're getting the go-ahead from GT for a group buy?

Finally, you may have trouble with "50" anything. Technically, the export of only .50BMG components is prohibited (so a .510" bullet), but the minions who process the paperwork don't always know the difference between .50BMG and .50AE. It will help if you list .500" on the request paperwork; nonetheless, you may have to apply more than once.

This isn't a group buy. I'm just trying to gauge interest to see if it's worth it for Mike to order 35,000 .500-350gr bullets. I've already imported the free 1000 bullet deal that Hornady is putting on. They won't ship to Canada but they will ship anywhere in the US. So I had them shipped to Mike and we both filled out the import/export paperwork and I've now got the bullets in my hands. We are in the middle of doing the same thing with 2000 .500-350gr bullets. Sort of a test run to make sure this all works. And most importantly, works legally.
