I think AK is taking about a .50 Beowulf mag. Five rounds of .50 Beowulf would take up roughly the same space as 15 rounds of .223.
No need to apologize to anyone good SirPlease excuse my ignorance; 15-16? please explain.
Ivor
A 17 Win super mag on an AR upper with 25 shot mags. mmmmm Better if it was 22 super mag though.
That would be illegal....10 rounds in a semi pistol.. rimfire or centrefire regardless ...please see the bx 25 magazine fiasco with the ruger 10/22 & charger pistol.. it's ridiculous yes...but it would make the magazine prohib if you put it in the pistol
The BX-25 issue is because the magazines were marketed for rifle and pistol.
It is perfectly legal to run a butler creek or TI 25 rd mag in a charger pistol because those mags were only marketed towards rifles, hence they are rifle magazines and have no capacity limit according to Canadian law.
To that note a rifle/magazine needs to be manufactured first for this to work.
No need to apologize to anyone good Sir
.50 beowulf AR mags will fit (the ones that are properly pinned to fit 5 rnds of beowulf) will fit 14 rnds of 223 and are perfectly legal due to the fact they were designed for .50 beowulf ..be very cautious though as those that can fit 15 rnds of .223 Were pinned wrong and can fit 6 rnds of .50 beowulf making them instantly evil and prohib... for any naysayers..lol I have personally watched the demonstration ..this is not an "I heard that a guy that knows a guy". It was witnessed at Silverdale gun club this summer (had to re pin a couple of my older ones after seeing it)
Btw on an off note....50 beowulf is an odd beast.
Max mag capacity in a .223 is five rounds. Ten if you have ugly short pistol mags, 15-16 if you feel that $175/magazine is reasonable, and you enjoy being hassled by ignorant fellow shooters and harassed by similarly ignorant cops.
.22 WMR is unlimited capacity.
Case closed.
If you truely watch beo mags can be had for much less. I just picked up 3 A.A. polymer ones for $116 each.
Interesting??????
Now I have some of the 10 round pistol mags. I can't use these hunting correct? Or I guess that being said I can't use them anywhere but a range right?
Because NR rifle is allowed in the woods and shooting on private property. But can the 10 round pistol mags be allowed the same as NR?
You can use them for both hunting and anywhere it is legal to discharge a NR firearm.
There is a link kicking around to the RCMP bulletin about mags (specifically references LAR mags). I don't have it but someone will post it shortly I reckon.
You need to check your local hunting regulations. Most will not allow centerfire semi auto rifles to have more than 5 for hunting but if you are just out plinking with your non restricted they are legal.
