Hello, all. Just trying to see how many people in PEI or the Maritimes would be interested in having an informal 100 yard BR shoot for score? Would really like to get an eastern Canada chapter going and have some fun!

Don't worry about having the best equipment or if you will be competitive, this will be a run-what-ya brung event and the rules/restrictions won't be to the book, this is just to bring more interest into the sport and to get people out and shooting! After we figure out how many people would like to go, we can figure out classes etc...

So, if you are interested, give me a holler!

Cheers,
Spencer

Sounds like a great idea. No idea if I'll be able to shoot it or not, there never seems to be enough time to do all the great shooting stuff out there. About 15 years ago I ran a single 100yd BR match at Sharon Gun Club (Toronto area), and it was a lot of fun. I even have a leftover stack of 100yd and 200yd BR-for-score targets, contact me if you get to the point of needing targets...

There used to be a pocket of pretty serious BR guys in northern NB (Bathurst / Dalhousie area), perhaps you can find them or they can find you.

I am near Fredericton NB, and would be interested for sure in this type of event. I am new to competitive shooting, but would love to learn! Let me know if you need help getting it going.

Well, I am still trying to find out how many would be interested and then try and find a suitable place to have it. If we get enough interest from PEI, NB, NS, maybe NFLD then we would have that many more options of where to go. Call all your friends that you might think are interested, this would be fun to make happen!

rnbra-shooter,
How many targets do you have left?

Hi Ron, you might want to consider FRSA (Fredericton Recreational Shooting Association), a private club with a versatile facility (from pistol to 600m/1000m rifle) in Springfield, about 40 minutes west of Fredericton. PM me if you need contact details.

If you want, you could organize a short range BR match in the Fredericton area, I can supply you with targets and advice if you wish.

Or, the Royal NB Rifle Assoc, which shoots on a range in CFB Gagetown, see the "Atlantic Championships" thread to see a match fired there last Sept. See post #10 for RNBRA contact details.

I'd have to check, but I think I bought 100 of each, and I think I have more than half left....?

Anything anyone has to offer is greatly appreciated, it would be great to have some knowledgeable fellows around like yourself to help the newer guys out and answer questions (ie Me haha)

If you wish to use the NSRA Bull Meadow Range, I'll put you in contact with the secretary and offer to sponsor to some degree.

As mentioned by Daniel, there could be matches in several areas.

Ron Surette has built a 600 metre range at St.Antoine near Moncton and this is a central location and they will also have an indoor range at some point. They also have a clubhouse.

Regards,

Peter

Ok guys, coyote has a range and has graciously offered it for use, it is in Bouctouche, NB. It is a 600 yard range with concrete bench tops on cement blocks. It looks like May 16 or 23 is a go, please PM myself or coyote and tell us if you plan to attend and some details of your rifle for classification. By the sounds of things there should be some full on BR rigs there for us to drool over and learn from but don't be afraid to bring out your hunting or varmint rig as their will be a couple different classes.

Let's make it happen guys, it could be a lot of fun!

Cheers,
Spencer

BR Shooting in NB

Hello Spencer,
We run a year round shooting program at the Petitcodiuac Sprotsmens Club located 10km outside of Petitcodiac, about half hour west of Moncton. We shoot 22LR benchrest year round and have four centerfire benchrest matches this year too. Our range is limited to 150yds.
Sounds interesting what you are planning.
Here is a link to our club
