I gandered at these on the Trade Ex website. Very interesting firearm. Defintely has to be some history behind these rifles worth learning, am I right?

Anyways, after seeing the price, I don't think I can pass this up, although I do have some reservations.
Is there any special care/ maintenance required for the K11s and K31s? I'm aware of the corrosive ammo, and am fully understanding and willing to put in the required time to clean the barrel after shooting corrosive.
Are these milsurps reliable? What I don't want is a rifle that I'll have to spend 8 hours of work on, just to shoot it for a half hour, seeing as I alerady have that issue with my Norc shotty. That being said, I am aware that these guns are older and do require some tender loving care.
Also, what about this 7.5x55 round? After doing some searching on the forum, I've found that this round is hard to come by, and that a lot of the milsurp guys are reloading for this round. For a non-reloader (who will probably get into reloading when he gets his own place in a year or two's time), is the cost justifyble?

Thanks for any and all information.

K11's are precursors to the k31, if you're going to buy one, buy the K31 - they're one of the nicest milsurps I've come across (IMO). I don't think commercial ammo is available, and swiss GP11, while very high quality and non corrosive, is getting rarer. For all intents and purposes GP11 is getting near match level quality, or so it has been said, so it's worth buying.

If you can't get GP11, you'll be reloading. The round is said to be quite accurate, but I attribute a lot of its accuracy to the quality of GP11 ammo and the generally super high quality and condition of K31's. K11's are a lot older and I haven't dealt with them much... their design isn't as advanced... why bother other than for nostalgia/to fill a place in a collection?

Soooo yah... buy a K31, they should cost a lot more than they do, find good ammo, never look back.

Oh, and there is a wide range of no-gunsmithing mods for them too - diopter sights, left hand bolt assemblies, mount on scope bases, micrometer rear sights, flash hiders, muzzle brakes, bipods etc etc etc

P.S. - if you go the econo route (buy a lee hand loader and the like) you can be set up for reloading for roughly $150-$200... more like $100 if you're a scrounger.

Hmmm. Thanks for the info.
Also, from the searching a .308 bullet can be used, correct?- as long as the casing is meticously resized?

That's right standard .308 bullets.
Just buy at least 100 7.5x55 Prvi cases from Tradeex and the worst is over.
Even Lee 7.5x55 dies can be used, but I would changed the locking ring to ones with set screws. Redding K31 specific dies are not needed for the K31 like you'll read all over the internet. I have dies from Lee, RCBS and Hornady. Each have good points and bad points.
Look into a used single stage press.

You can also neck up and resize .284 case in standard 7.5x55 dies.
Need a bit of muscle and castor oil as lube. They are a little wider around the web but you only have to do it one to get them down to 7.5x55 dimensions.

I have been waiting for the Shooting Edge to bring in another batch of very good-Excellent quality K-31s.

I missed their last sale (I think they were Dutch police surpluses?). Trade Ex's are top shooter quality, but I am holding off for the higher quality ones. Not sure if they will ever come though.

I just bought a K 31. My first impression is amazing machining quality. Very nice rifles that should be worth far more than what they are. Jesus do they ever have a short throat, I've never loaded for a rifle with such a short throat, but it's not a issue because holy #### does she shoot. I bought a Swiss products clamp on scope mount and tossed on a scope. I found 44.5 grains of Varget under a 178 grain Amax to shoot the best. Shot four, 5 shot groups on the weekend at 100 M from a lead sled. Smallest group was .7" and largest was slightly over 1". Very impressive for a milsurp.

As milsurps go, this is my prized one. 1941 K31, bluing and bore condition mint. Add a clamp on scope and you have a 1 MOA sniper rifle all for about $400 with no trigger or rifle mods. Trigger is crisp at 3.75 lbs. How do you lose?

Home3, just talk to Jean at P&S Militaria or Tony at TradeEx. Jean will send photos before you buy.

Not ready yet to dive into the whole reloading setup just yet, but Trade Ex does have some decent prices on some awesome looking milsurps.
There's a 97% chance I'll be picking up one of their Chilean M1912's in 308.

The Steyrs are nice too.

I heard through the grapevine that there is a load of GP11 in transit to Canada.
How long it will take to clear customs, get to the wholesaler and then get out to retailer(s) is anyone's guess.

I'll be getting a few cases myself.

Prvi Partizan 7.5x55 Swiss FMJ will be coming in in the Spring also. Contact your local dealer and ask him to order it for you from Bell Distributors.

How much does GP11 cost per round approx. if bought by the case? With a 178 grain AMAX and 6 firings per piece of brass my 7.5 loads are costing me 74 cents a shot, or $740 per case of 1000.
