Don't dryfire it as you will break the firing pin's split retaining pin. I had to replace mine with a shortened drill bit kept in the slide with electrical tape until I was able to find spares.
Otherwise my 1949 Russian has been very reliable and fun to shoot other than a couple of sharp edges that rub me the wrong way.
Don't buy one with the safety added. Toks should be safetyless.
