Interesting 50cal MG warning - graphic pic

I know hindsight is 20/20, but man what a shock that must have been to look down after hearing a bang and seeing that mess. Always use the right tool for the job!

reminded me of
Ronald Quincy: [holds out his hand] Imagine a firecracker in the palm of your hand. You set it off, what happens? You burn your hand, right? You close your fist around the same firecracker,
[clenches his hand into a fist]
Ronald Quincy: and set it off. Your wife's gonna be opening your ketchup bottles the rest of your life.

Holy ####, I was in Afghanistan when that happened. I remember being on duty and listening to the radio when the medevac came in.

The guys are doing a dirty, rough job to protect the rest of us from homicidal lunatics who are still p*ssed because they lost the First Crusade and don't want to remember that they started this: Battle of Tours was 732 AD, sack of Rome, 846, Arab army burns the Vatican.

I hope we all appreciate what the guys are doing and it's great to see them coming home in one piece.

But with all that's going on, WHY do they have to hurt THEMSELVES?

Obviously, somebody didn't listen.

Awful.... and so futile.

Where were his buddies, when he was making that choice?!?! You are supposed to protect each other from yourselves as well as the "Towel a bandanas". I do remember making some baaaad choices when I was trying to kit up my AVGP after maintaining and cleaning, when all you can think of is going to ground cause you are exhausted. Thankfully my bad choices wern't that bad and I had troops with me to keep me thinking clearly.
