Interesting CC conversation with a friend in the US

How would you protect yourself in the event of a home invasion? Have firearms strategically hidden throughout the house?

Security layers:

Have doors that are strong enough to resit a 30 second assault, unless you own a mansion, you can get to your guns before that door opens with 9-1-1 called.

Night time: in the end table

I dont answer the door for just anyone. No one I know drops in unexpectedly, so when ever the door knocks I have enough time to grab what I need. When I'm home and downstairs my loaded firearm is sitting on the kitchen counter which is on my way to the front door. If I'm upstairs my loaded firearm comes upstairs with me.

I may or may not have firearms hidden around my house, but if I did they would be securely stored as per washington state's new law....

But violent crime is non-existent in my area of washington, probably helps that there are two major port of entries, and a border protection outpost within 10 minutes of my house. The local PD is def out in full force too.

Once upon a time I lived in Texas, had a safe full of guns, some purchased legally in parking lots across town from guys I met online.. Now I live in Calgary, oh how times have changed for me and gun ownership

Honestly the ballistics of 380 aren't that different from a 9. Iirc the 9 penetrantes about an inch or so more in ballistic gelatin, so actually hitting what you shooting at is still the order of the day. That Sai a good Defensive pistol course still gives a lot of consideration to what's around and behind your target. Nobody wants to shoot a bystander. Fwiw statistically it's quite rare. Police un the US get in a fair number of gun fights, are lousy shots as a rule, and rarely hit civilians. The number of civilians shot because the bullet penetrates intended target and hits someone behind must be almost zero. It's a concern but in real life seems to rarely happen.

Fwiw If I ever get the chance to leave this country I will. Starting to hate it here. Just the weak ass, sheep-like mindset of people here is starting to be a daily irritant. How I would love to live in a red state.

I donno man, I would WAY rather trust a US cop vs a RCMP or OPP.

CBP around washington train extremely hard, so does the county sheriff, local PD's and the reservation police too. They all train at Custer sportsmen's club. That being said, civilians still shoot better.
