The wife said something the other night that shocked me. We had some people over and the discussion turned to my upcoming moose hunt and hutning in general.

One of the ladies said asked my wife if it bothers her that I'm gone for 7-10 days in the fall (and that one of those 7-10 days is our anniversary). My wife said, "...no, not really. Maybe I'll get to go one year" .

I told her we'd have to start off with some deer hunting first before she graduates to moose camp. She actually said she'd like to tag along with me a couple of times this year for deer hunting.:runaway:

Actually, I love to take her along for deer. Besides, if she's OK with it this year maybe next year she'd like to shoot one herself. Which means I'd have get her her own rifle. Hmmmmm....what to buy?;)

Get her Restricted status then you can buy some real nice toys for her. My wife bought two nice ones, but she doesn't hunt so there goes that new bolt action I was dreaming about.

+1 on the restricted license. my girlfriend is scared to shoot my rifles, i guess they kick too much, loves my pistols tho

+2 Made sure my wife got her restricted and I bought her a pistol. She loves to plink too. She surprised me and came along two weekends back when I popped out for a quick three day hunt. She even had a bead on a nice Buck but couldn't get the shot she wanted so didn't fire. Sure got her excited though. I don't think I'll have a problem getting her out to try again.

and this is your wife?and this is the first time you have ever heard her talk like this?
trust me on this;) neaver believe the wife when she had a few;)

Well first you better get a bigger tent, because you are going to need it for the bigger bed and you need a hot water heater for the shower and I think you better have a good design of the new crapper, etc,etc

Well lets get things straight. Moose camp is just for the guys, she will not be tagging along there. Deer hunting on the the other hand is done local. Usually involves getting out of work early and hunting evenings or hunting the weekends. And I normally do it solo, so tagging along won't be a big issue.

My wife loves to come along, tend camp, cook, keep the fire going, skin, clean, gut, pluck, butcher and freeze the meat, but is not fond of killing.

She's done it, she has killed a deer and I witnessed her shoot a goose on the wing with a .22 once, but she's more into the care and preparation of the meat than killing the game.

(Oh yeah, she also doesn't gracefully do 4:30 a.m. wake-ups)

I really enjoy going hunting with my wife. In fact, we were out last night. As we sat waiting I asked her if she was bored. She replied, "Why would you even ask me that? I love coming out here with you!"

She has even indicated that she will do her CORE and PAL soon. She said she is not sure about shooting an animal yet, but she is warming up to the idea.

I have an awesome wife!

Well my Mrs. has hunted with me for the better part of 14yrs now. She started when we were engaged.
She has come waterfowling, and moose hunting and most every thing in between. Coincidentally she has the biggest set of antlers on the den wall.

How, or better why, did you ever manage to get married in the fall in the first place?

10 years ago before I got married I was a city boy. I had never hunted before in my life. I had no idea moose season even existed. I married a country girl and moved to the country. After awhile I figured I'd like to try out hunting, and the rest is history. She's been pretty good though, I've missed about half of my anniversaries thus far. This year, Oct 5, is the big 10. I'm flying out Oct 6. :D
