so I was up in swan hills, ab deer hunting with a buddy. I found a good place overlooking an open valley. I sat down and waited a while. Squirted some tinks 69, and bleated like a doe. An hour goes by and nothing.

I looked to my right, there were two coyotes coming across a frozen pond about 200m out. They were moving right, and soon be out of view. I shot at one with the m305. It looked like a hit, but they took off.

I waited for 15 minutes, then proceeded down to check for blood. I walked down, and searched for blood. I didn't find any, no big deal, I missed.

So I walk back up the bare hill to where I was. I figured my deer hunt was ruined because of the gun shots, so I bleated half way up the hill. I got an answer! It was a deep grunt coming from where I originally was, but maybe 50 yards in the bush.

Now I was caught in the open, I got low and waited, then bleated a few more times. Nothing. Musta circled and got my scent. Exciting morning!

Just thought I'd share. Any pointers guys?

Try a grunt back next time, sometimes it really makes another buck mad and he throws all caution to the wind if he is heavy in the rut.Shot last years 6x6 standing well out in the open at 25-30 yards.

is it possible to bleat too much? When I heard this buck, I was excited. I could hear branches breaking everynow a d then. I bleated once every 3-5 minutes after be grunted.

Machinist, good idea man! I shoulda grunted.
