A while back a got a call asking if I was interested taking over the ownership of some old guns that a gentleman had taking up room in a storage locker. The guns had been in there for a number of years and he was not ever planning on using them. One of the items was what appeared to be an old shot gun case, in very bad shape, he told me it had been through a fire :(

I proceeded to open the case and to my surprise this is what I found:

As most of you may know I an not a real shotgun collector or expert and would like to get some information from some of our resident experts opinions on this gun.
What model is it? 700???
When was it made?
How many where made and where these only made for export?
Are they very collectable?
Is there still a demand for the Webley & Scott shot gun?
Can the case be repaired or replaced here in Canada?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Quick and easy way to date may be from the hallmarks on the gold escutcheon.

Very nice find, obviously.

Yes they are collectable! But even more shootable. Guns like yours tend to be "collected" by serious upland bird hunters who want a nice well made and mid-priced English gun. Yours has Nitro proof marks and 2-3/4" chambers, a bonus! The case looks beyond repair to me, but there must be some good "fitted" case makers out there, Sorry I don't know any!

Call Nick (http://w w w.nickmakinson.com) and he can either repair your case or make a new fitted case for you.
