Hello. I hope everyone is hanging in there. A friend has dragged up these items from his fathers house. This one I believe is a hitler youth knife and scabbard. The next one has no visible Reich symbols but looks very “ military issue” like. Anybody recognize this. Cheers

Since it says Germany, I'd say fakes, very popular reproductions.

The first looks like an HJ knife, or at least at first glance it does. Does it have any other markings, makers code, etc.?

The second probably was an HJ knife made by Robert Klaas (which did make HJ knives) but then reworked post war into a bowie knife for commercial sale.

Thanks. I had a similar theory of reworked old Reich stock. The amount of items my friends father has is amazing. I’ll post some other pics. I’ll try to find out more on the hj knife. Cheers

When I was a kid I bought a Premier brand knife out of the local hardware store in Port Hardy that was modeled on the Hitler youth knife.

Those Premier brand knives were pretty damn good. If I ever see another one at a gun show or something I'll get one. Solingen steel I think they were. I had a Premier copy of a Buck folder that I loaned to a guy who forgot who owned it for a long time who finally returned it about 8 years later still good, still sharp, but only about 1/8 of the metal left from sharpening. Made a good toothpick.

I recognize the mothers cross and breast plate. We don’t know if half the stuff his father had is even real

Too funny. At least you got it back (all 1/8” of it lol) I do remember the Premier brand

With real Hitler Youth knives the Swastika emblem should be loose enough to wiggle in it's place.Spain made lots of copies after the war.

Interesting, the first picture is a Hitler Youth knife.

When I was in Scouts I bought one from the Hudson's Bay store, about 1955, that had the swastika removed and a Boy Scout Fleur de Le in it's place.

I got a good deal because the blade had a mark on it.

knives that survived with the swastika are rare ... I have one that my father returned with ... the swastika was removed .. just an empty space where it was ...'de-nazification. I have a para smock that has had the emblem cut off as well.

Japanese Order of the Rising Sun medal 6th class. Reserved for military lower echelons and others.
No idea if its authentic.
If I had to bet I'd place most of this collection as the real item but no expert.

Germans are really paranoid about that. When the movie Valkyrie was made, they apparently had to get special permission to use the swastika. Talk about stupid.

Thanks for all the information. It’s a part of history that the world wants to forget. I think the idea of collecting Nazi items is somehow misconstrued as sympathizing with their ideals. For most collectors I believe that idea is far from the truth. For me it’s just history and to others maybe a war trophy. Censorship is the problem

The double crane is the trademark for Solingen and I have a 1930's vintage fruit knife with the Robert Klaas script on it so the time frame is right

I suppose that the Germans are but many of these items were stripped as a result of occupational forces denazification.
