I have had this old front sight kicking around for years. Not sure where I got it. It sort of looks like a cross between a rear sight and front as it's fitted to a dovetail slot. It is windage adjustable and looks like it would be a good sight for sporting use.

Please feel free to add any thoughts and comments to the origin and value of this sight.

Bingo!
That certainly is an interesting front sight. Have never seen one like it before. My guess.....and its only a guess, would be German origin. No idea about value but I do have a couple of old rifles that it would look good on. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Cheers, wTc

Lyman made similar adjustable front sights at the turn of the century, but that ones an odd bird. Target bead sights would almost always have a hood for shielding it. I wonder if that hasn't been filed away, as the integral hoods are easy to dent/bend.

There wuzz a time long after Christ was born that the kawncept of a mid sight was tried.
