Interesting "Research" from the Ottawa Citizen Database

I can find my G33 and my 5906's, storm and coonan..
(there are only 57 in Canada
3 unknowns,
4 A's
11 B Revolvers????
39 B Semi's )
one was imported by JS worldwide distribution.. Don't know who that was...

But I got 3 M305's on the same day and only 1 of them shows up.. anybody else have multiple records that wouldn't show up...

There are 1045 properly registered Ross 1910s in individual hands.

Funny how when you look at what Canuck223 posted, this obviously is not a proper count  Makes you wonder how exactly they would even begin to try to use this to ID any guns... If the long gun registry is this screwed, how bad is the restricted one which has been around since the 30s?
well i had a colt 1991a1 brand new i dropped it off at the registar (back when we had to leave it there)
2 weeks later cops call for the 'restricted interview/inspection of storage thing (an ontario thing) sgt does his thing then asks why i turned in as found property an UNREGISTERED colt 1991a1 and where i got it from??

got that sorted out got my green slip weeks later after a year i sold the gun to a shop KEPT the paperwork for somereason 5 years later I get a call saying why did i not re-register my 1991a1??

proved to cfc i did not own it based on my paperwork turns out 3 different people owned my colt 1991a1 at the same time....... they had no idea who ACTUALLY had it

Living in a part of Toronto where only 2 households per 100 are known by the government to to own firearms, I found that you could probably link the M305/M14S registration dates of about 6 or seven guns pretty closely to the arrival of shipments at Marstar or Ellwood Epps.

I could say more, but if a hacker would be able to get at more data and was after specific firearms types within my postal code, I would have reason enough to be scared!

Just for sh*ts and giggles, type in Unknown MAKE, Unknown MODEL.

Isn't that the way they were supposed to be registered! :D

Only 84 1911 Schmidt-Rubins registered. Interesting.

Only 131 1903 Springfields as well... some are registered as Remington, some as US Arms, and some as Springfield.

Edit Also found a Winchester 92 as Prohib.

I guess it was chambered in 32 special. Because of the number "32" , an evil number:confused: , someone at the cfc put it in the prohibited class, like if it was a .32 handgun

now where can I get me a Mosin "Nagat"? There's only 1 in Winnipeg, must be pretty rare! I'd like to meet the guy that lives in my part of the 'peg that has the full auto "MG42 handgun"; he must have pretty big cajones to shoot a beast like that!

FWIW, I found my 1897 trenchgun, and M27 finn mosin...

When searching, make sure to type an asterisk before and after what you type into the "make" or "model" box. This will broaden the search to give all variations, such as *vetterli* will also allow vetterli-swiss to be listed or any other weird variation that someone has typed in except for shortforms. Try variations on misspellings and shortforms or slang as well. I'm laughing my ass off at how many variations there are for just the vetterli alone, not to mention that almost all are still in rimfire config and shouldn't even be registered along with endless Sniders & Martini-Henrys. It is amazing at the number of errors you can find under any search. Truly a 2 billion dollar hodge-podge of crap.

What percentage of guns were actually registered? (less than 10 % or Lower?)
According to LUFA, NFA, etc?
According to CFC and Wendy?

Don't think the list is 100% Accurate, maybe 1 %.

According to the CFC, 100% of all registered guns have been registered. An absolute success. :)

According to the previous in-power government (Libs) the compliance rate was 95%

According to estimates from other sources, there are 21milion firearms in Canada, with 7 million registered, so the compliance rate is about 33%

I don't know what percentage is currently verified of that 7 million, but what I can see in the database now, a lot of (likely unverified) guns have some very skewed data. Still, if the end aim is to confiscate all the firearms, as long as each entry has a postal code, it should all work out.

Darn, there you have me talking politics when this thread was supposed to be about some of the unique guns still out in private hands.

Search for something full auto and you'll see lots of them. If people still are grandfothered for a Tommy or BMG, than the whole gun control thing is pretty useless. How John Doe The Grandfothered is better than Paul Smith Not Grandfothered, when they are both 45 and live next door and hunt ducks together? Puke!

there are 2 naggots registered.

some of my "wants" are out there. for fun, type in "tonsper" as in tons per.

i am very surprised at the number of sks' in my neighbourhood.

And there are only 34 1903A3's. That means they should theoretically bring more money than the 131 1903's, but the reverse seems to be true in the EE... Hmm...

This DB might actually be a useful bargaining tool next time I want to buy a "rare" milsurp - lol.
