Interesting "Research" from the Ottawa Citizen Database

That can't be right... only ONE Mosin M24 is registered in Canada, yet I own TWO and know of at least 5 others....?? I presume they must be registered as "M1891" or M1891/24 or something like that...

Claven, mine is registered as an M1891 only. Stupid CFC, although it doesn't really matter.

####?

ARMEE 1940 SHAT.J.E. Rifle Bolt Action Non-restricted QC

COOEY SURE #### REPEATER Rifle Bolt Action Non-restricted SK

REMINGTON 2 #### SEMIAUTO Shotgun Semi-Automatic Non-restricted AB

STEPHENS ARMS COMPANY CRACK #### Rifle Lever Action Non-restricted QC

I guess stephens etc really DID make some ####ty rifles back then eh?

The dates of stolen, recovered, registered guns are curious too.
These people would really have trouble if you asked them a "chicken and the egg question"....

For example:
Make: Winchester
Model: model 12
Stolen Date: 1/20/2005
Recovered Date: 1/19/2005

THAT's quick and effective policing!

A billion (or more) later, and all I know is that I have a "crack sh*t" rifle. :)

"Because of privacy provisions, the records do not include the owners' names or addresses, but do include the first two characters of their postal codes. The RCMP has indicated that releasing more than two characters could risk identifying the locations of firearms in smaller communities. "

Yet releasing persons names in with this CD doesn't risk identifying the locations of firearms in, say, a specific home? I guess 'smaller communities' are to be protected, but say, a gunsmiths home who's got his name attached to a rifle is not put at risk? I hope some of these smiths who's names are in the released data sue and win huge $$.
Isn't 10.5million the new standard?

GOOD EVENING; my 2cts worth
I resent the tone of the articles , "do you want to know what guns are in your area "?

What are we a bunch of perverts ? Child molesters ? You can bet if they published a similar data base for drunks, druggies, rapists, etc, etc that a whole lot of the bleeding heart liberals would be out there defending the "rights" of these people to privacy as they have "served their time" and were entitled to it.

OK thats very nice, but as gun owners what the hell are we guilty of ? I mean apart from owning all those nasty looking firearms ?

For one I am sick and tired of being treated like a criminal before the fact.

In my never ending quest to stir the pot, I did a little search, and copied the inventory of my favourite gun merchant, and sent him a copy.

He called me five minutes later. Without asking for confirmation, it would seem most of my guesses were correct. I really don't envy the people he'll be screaming at tommorrow.
