While on a vacation last week I was cruising route 66 throu Arizona & stopped for breakfast at the "Road Kill Cafe" in the little town of Seligman. It had quite a bunch of antiques & old pics, so I was looking them over while waiting for breakfast & came upon an old pic on the wall of 4 hunters probably taken 1910-1930?? In the pic two are carrying 94 long barrels Wins, one a SR carbine & the most interesting a Sav 1899. The interesting part is I have in my collection a 1899 rapid taper Hex barrel Short Rifle of which no books have ever shown exsisted, low & behold in the pic is a Short barreled Hex with the same Rocky Mountain front site. The barrel dia of mine at the muzzle is just over 1/2" which certainly disqualifies a cut-off long barrel. This is the only other indication I have ever seen that they may? do? actually exsist
