Picked up an sks today. Got it home, realized the internals had no cosmoline and were jampacked full of sand. The rifle itself is in great shape, no nicks. Every number matches on the gun. Bit confused on why there would be sand on the internals, but cosmoline covering the rest of the gun. Bore is in perfect shape as well. If anyone can chime in on why there might be sand in it, it would be great.

maybe they took cosmoline out of internals to shoot it, then too lazy to put cosmoline back into interals used the most readily available thing and that was sand!? haha

Just a wild guess , but probabley just a dirty gun coming out of service ; and someone decided to cut a few corners , and save some time by quickly smearing the outside of the rifle with grease and putting it into armory storage . Supposedly , the SKS refurbs were completely gone over , checked ,repaired , greased and put into storage.......but sometimes corners get cut , and the required job does not get done correctly......

Lol thought I was the only one to get the french joke

It's because their rifles are never fired and only dropped once
