I was talking to my Turkish history proffessor today and showed him a quick sketch I'd made of the crest on my M88/05/35 Commission Rifle. Its identical to the one pictured in the link,

He said that it was the crest for the gendarmes - TC meaning Turkish Republic and AS.FA an abbreviation for Military Police. I found it interesting, as I'd heard before it means military factory. Military factory makes sense, but my Prof would probably know what he was talking about - he's Turkish, born and raised in Istanbul, definately knows his Middle Eastern, and espescially Turkish, history.

Nice story, but nothing to do with military police.

Abbreviations or markings that you will see on rebuilt rifles are: T.C, Turkiye Cumhuriyeti or Republic of Turkey; .ASFA., Askari Fabrika or Military Factory and ANK ARA or Ankara.
