There is a ewe toob channel High Prairie Sportsmen and he shoots ducks over decoys .
An impressive channel and a very good shot .
He targets specific birds as they decoy in…
Shoots Honkers too… the right ammo and a great decoy set and you too can enjoy spectacular shooting.
Me , I would stick with a 12 gauge and some steel shot .
It is always good to have another perspective though.

Great video.Thanks for posting.That TSS seems to work very well.
I have not used a 28 gauge on waterfowl since lead was outlawed.Been thinking about one of the new 28 gauge self loading guns with 3 inch bismuth to use on them.The 3 inch Winchester 28 gauge Bismuth looks like it could be a real winner.

I have not used a 28 gauge on waterfowl since lead was outlawed.Been thinking about one of the new 28 gauge self loading guns with 3 inch bismuth to use on them.The 3 inch Winchester 28 gauge Bismuth looks like it could be a real winner.
The only drawback is the price of ammo.
$$$ but, again it isnt always about money, but the adventure and the memories.

Especially as we get older.Being a long time 28 gauge fan ,I am use to the high cost of ammunition. However, the new non toxic 28 gauge stuff, takes a bit of my breath away, I must admit.LOLThe trick will be ,to come up with the money for the new gun and even to find some 28 gauge Winchester 3 inch ammunition in Canada

I've seen 12 20 and 410 tss but not 28ga.
I'd like to take a 410 with tss for ducks.
Pheasant farms are $30 a bird now so for a day out with a subgage hunting water fowl with tss its really not that bad. I'd prolly try the 28ga as well once

the money reference always makes me crazy it is the most unbalanced comparison to doing a activity if you can't afford 140$ for 4 boxes of ammo after buying a gun hunting clothing gas in your truck then just stay home
the only other dumb comment is it's to nice to hunt with and most of the comments are not relative because a 870 wingmaster isn't nice it's utility
until you are taking out a 6500$ gun hunting then maybe just maybe
i hunt with do very nice guns and that's why i have them i like hunting and i like nice guns 4k-10 k guns

enjoy the hunt on what ever level you are at
I could care less what one thinks about the choice of firearm I or anyone else makes to take out in the field.
I draw the line when someone comes along and says their gun is the best.
But, I digress...hunting season has wound down and I'm looking forward to Spring and the things to come in between.

You don't always need TSS in the sub-gauges. Bismuth in the 20, 28 & .410 works great. Somewhat less expensive then TSS but not by much. You only go through this world once, might as well enjoy your time afield crushing birds rather than crunching numbers.....

Once you try that 28 gauge,you will forget all about the .410.
My view has always been,"If I cannot afford to hunt with it,I cannot afford to own it."
I have had no more luck finding 28 gauge Bismuth than I have finding28 gauge TSS or most any 28 gauge non tox shot,other than 2 3/4 inch steel.The 28 gauge 2 3/4 inch steel I am a little hesitant to use on waterfowl.

Nah. I much prefer the Lil 410 over the 28.Once you try that 28 gauge,you will forget all about the .410.
Mostly because so many ppl say I cant break clays or kill game but I do it anyway

My only 28ga is an a400 xplor. I am kinda looking for the right sxs in 28. Just cuz It is the only gap I have from 10 12 16 20 and 410
Yes the .410 can be a fun little gun to use,but you need much more skill to use it correctly.In my opinion.
Back in the mid 1980's I used a Winchester Model 42 .410 in the field for two years.Yes it worked,but I found it wanting, compared to the 28 gauge.Just my observations ,from my use with the .410.
What do you have for SXS 10,12,16,20 and .410 shotguns?
Mix of vintage British and scottish to Spanish and Turkish and down to 1 Husqvarna hammer gun
When I was a kid I hated the 410 because I couldn't kill much with it. Now I dont seem to have an issue. If I miss with a 410 Ida likely missed it with a 20 or a 12. If you're on target the gauge dont matter

Being on target is what counts.
The only problem with the .410 , the range one can be on target and have enough pellets to do the job is quite limited.The target has to be picked up fast and close.If not,even when on target,there is not enough pellets in the pattern to do the job.Again just my experience and opinion with the .410 in the field.Thirty yards is stretching it, for a clean sure hit with the .410.At 25 yards no problem.
The .410 is for the most part, an experts gun for sure use in the field.If kept to 25 yards ,it will wonk fine.
