Hi everyone. Thanks in advance for the help.

It's been quite a few years since I've actively shot air pistol. Back in the day the hot set up was a Brno Tau-7. Iirc CSF was selling them as well as alot of other dealers. Both the pistol and rifle.

For the price they were an excellent value.

Mine's been gathering dust and I've been thinking about selling it off but in the event that sellers remorse set in I wanted to be able to source some kind of replacement. Except that there doesn't seem

to be one anymore. Most of what's on the market seems to be low end junk or high end Olympic class.

What's available in the market today in the $ 250-500 range that's worth the money.

And what's a clean Tau-7 going for on average.

Not much available as far as mid-priced AP... the next step up from a TAU will be in the +$1000 range..
if you <think> you might want to get back in air pistol shooting, keep the TAU.

used TAU seem to go for $300-$500, depending on condition and time of the year...

I had a Tau 7 and sold it. I regret doing so as there's not really much that compares to it except for the pre-charged very expensive pistols. I liked how you could adjust the velocity and use it out in the field too. Mine shot pretty decently and in cool temperatures and could hit just about anything within 25 yards. I handled an 46m and didn't like the feel of it compared to the tau. I found it to be much more muzzle heavy and you can't really adjust the weight of it the same as the tau.
I wouldn't sell it if I were you.

For pistols I now shoot a Hw40 and a Hw45.
They are the older models before they went to those damn fire sites.
Both are sport pistols but I really enjoy shooting them and get very good accuracy.

Just an afterthought here but you may have interest in the HW75

I think the Tau and the IZH are the only two target pistols in the mid price range. Like Ian I didn't like the balance on the Izh. Had a top of the line 10m pistol, sold it, and probably won't buy another one. I've shot and handled the Tau (never owned one) and like their simplicity and steel construction. The one other choice is the FAS 604 (now 6004 made by Chiappa), but it seems to be designed more like a sport pistol (the .22 ones) rather than 10m AP and the FAS made ones were getting quite pricy.
