About 1 out of 10 rounds will have a very light strike, and will fire on the second try.
Primers strikes on fired rounds looks normal.
The misfires have a very tiny strike.
I bought this new in 2007? Never fired it until 2019.
Could the factory lube dry and causing this.

Incomplete trigger squeeze, doesn't allow the transfer bar to line up with the firing pin correctly. Seems to be relatively common with the NEF. If you are a trigger masher, probably never happen. If you squeeze realllly slow, you'll see this problem occasionally.

I do believe that could be the answer, I pull light, as I'm used to on my other light trigger guns.
However my other h&r doesn't do that. And maybe it's just a tiny difference in the two triggers.
The dent I see is just the weight of the firing pin, and not the blow of the hammer.

It may be possible to make a minor adjustment to the linkage between the trigger and transfer bar, but without it in front of me, it's not possible to be sure. Maybe you have a competent smith nearby that can take a look at it?

If you don't have it, here's(hopefully) a link to the owner's manual, showing the transfer bar operation.

Same problem with my NEF 500 S&W but it went away after 100 rounds, dont baby the trigger and when you pull the hammer do it firmly. JP.
