international classification

I see we are now being forced to have ICS stages at our next BC Provincials. oh boy. That's awesome. not.
the stages universally suck, it's really that simple. Add in the gamer aspect of a couple of them, and they are rather irrelevant, at least to most shooters.

I think IPSC Members that want to get classified Provincially, or with the ICS, they could take some responsibility themselves, and either put on a Classification match for their own club members, or, if they so choose, include them in their matches!

This is number two item in my todo list.
Though, if I follow your logic, if someone will want their results published faster they should do it themselves. I think I've heard that before. :)

A few flaws with ICS
you can go down in class
you can shoot the same classifier at different matches on the same day and all the scores get used.

Just recently we been reminded how members should approach changing things in IPSC. :D

So, Mike, your position is to not bother with ICS classification until it is fixed?

If all IPSC members in Canada that are planning on attending the Nats in Kingston shot a few ICS stages selected from a "short list", then there would be a better representation of our true "class" for class recognition.

(Boy that didn't seem to come out all that clear...)

What I am trying to say is... don't be surprised if a list of 8-10 recommended ICS stages are broadcast to the sections in the near future. This would be the "short list" of stages. If all sections participated, and our members shot a few stages from this short list, then all members attending the Nats would have an opportunity to be (more) properly ranked for Nats. Not the perfect solution, but may help considerably.

:nest:

No, my position is to keep shooting with match wins being my goal rather then my class wins. When we put matches on in my range, having an ICS stage limits what can be done since the range is so small.

John, how does the average of shooting the same stage 4 or five times in the span of two days reflect you're ablility to play this game?

4 or 5 times??? Well...about all that would prove is whether or not practice makes perfect :)

1 or 2 would not be a problem.

The problem is if we don't put on the ICS stages how do we get classified for Nats??

I'm with Madness. I'm going for match wins, not class wins. I like trophies, but don't care if I'm GM, M, A, B, C, D or even G. I know a lot of people do, those people should shoot ICS I guess. Nothing stopping them from setting up ICS stages on a particular day, and submitting them.

You know it would be much simpler, and more freestyle, if we just dropped all the classes and divisions and just shot heads up for overall placement...just sayin'

Exactly! I don't like the idea of forcing clubs to include ICS Stages in their matches, seems counter intuitive to the "Freestyle" nature IPSC is supposed to be!

It would work just perfectly if every member had his own range or club where he could setup whatever he like.

Craig, I have to pint out that besides of the Freestyle stages, there is also some basic skill that need to be mastered. I believe classifier stages are designed to measure those basic skills.

Anyways, I don't know about you guys, but personally I am embarrassed to be awarded first "C" class, just because I can't seem to get new ICS results submitted...
