Clearing out some rifles and I have zero idea on value for this one. Military stuff is not my area of expertise. I believe it's complete. It cycles, shoots great and is very accurate.

Any help is appreciated,

IHC Garands generally fetch a premium above typical M1 prices due to their relative rarity, so that's a plus. But you would also have to look at each individual part to have an idea of how complete it is from an IHC standpoint (i.e. to tell how many parts may have been replaced over its service, or more importantly, how many non-IHC parts does it have). The stock's well-used and the barrel looks a little rough, it appears to have a bit of pitting in the groves but the riflings look decent hence the good accuracy. Without the benefit of a first-hand look, I'd venture North of $1K, but South of $1.5K as a starting point.

YMMV...

It always gets down to originality and condition. The larger IHC parts, incl bolt, trigger housing, hammer, and op rod will show a drawing number with the letters "IHC" as a suffix. The elevation knob, windage knob, and gas plug will be marked IHC in addition to other letters. An IHC barrel should show the letters "LMR" before the drawing number on the rt side of the barrel. Smaller IHC parts, incl follower, clip latch (on the inner side), and op rod catch will often show a single letter. Safety will be marked with the letter "F". The rear sight base will be marked with a single letter on the bottom. An original IHC stock will show a 4 digit Julian date on the bottom of the op rod channel. The stock looks fairly beat and the bore appears rough. Some would be inclined to replace or refinish the wood if not original. The metal finish is worn which would tempt some to re-parkerize it. From the looks of the bore I'd probably be inclined to replace the barrel. The s/n shows that this is one of the last IHCs built in late 1955 using a receiver supplied to IHC by Springfield Armory. Some collectors would pay a bit more for this variation.

Tough to say on price. An original IHC in VG + condition would probably fetch $1500 nowadays. If you factor in a barrel replacement ($300-400), a re-park job and a replacement stock, somewhat less.

Thanks guys, there is an "SA" where you mentioned "LMR" should be on the barrel. I assume that's Springfield Armory.

Looks like an IHC gap-letter refurb to me. Stock is pretty beat up and the barrel has visible bore wear. I'd call it a $1000-1200 gun as it sits in today's market.

Yeah I would say your safe with 1000-1200, looks like its been around, despite being a tad beat up its got some great character, if only it could talk
